I have an ENGL Savage SE and it can do death/black right out of the box.
I just don`t know for how much they`re going outside Europe.
Yeah a savage might be a pretty sick fuckin idea as well.... especially if i can find one used... only 2 power tubes tho for 120 watts? thats weird. 6550s tho right? whats that to kt88s? is that the same thing? lol i thought 6550s were like bass amp tubes. i bet that thing is sick tho... i cant find anything on a savage SE i only see the 120... whats the difference?
According to my knowledge KT88 and 6550 are interchangeable though with slightly different characteristics.
ENGL Savage SE was the top of the ENGL line before ENGL SE came out. Then it was discontinued. It comes with 4x 6L6 and it has a few more features respect to regular Savage 120 - dedicated Treble knob for Crunch 1, 2 separate reverbs (one for Clean + Crunch 1 and one for Crunch II + Lead), possibility to switch between two cabs (you need to keep the same ohmage), Triode/Pentode switch and at the back there is impedance test and cable check system.
I wish they kept the Contour switch for channel 2 (Crunch II + Lead).
I don`t know exact tonal differencies between Savage 120 and Savage SE because I played Savage 120 a few years ago but either of the two is a very capable metal machine.
