If I buy an SLO.....

The amp is KILLER, AMAZING, STUPENDOUS !!!

But the FX loop blows like Reggie Love... :lol: :LOL:
 
Can anything be done with the loop to make it more pedal friendly?
And I was hoping to use the crunch channel with the pre amp dimed and a boost, then switch to the lead channel for solos.

You can do a few things:

1. Make the loop switchable in/out of the circuit.
2. Remove the loop completely.
3. Reduce the send level to 0db and increase the return level to compensate. But this will affect the gain of the stage.
4. Move the loop to after the tone stack.

I've heard that even with rack effects, the loop doesn't sound that great...
 
I think you can mod it but it might take away from the overall tone of the amp, therefore reducing the value. Part of the tone of the amp is related to where the loop is placed, or so I thought I read somewhere..
 
A few months ago, I finally made up my mind to try a Soldano.

I decided on the SLO, and found one.....but it had JUST SOLD. I contacted the buyer and said that I wanted it if he ever sold it. He contacted me back after trying it for a month or so, and we made a deal.

My Gower KK++ amp and the SLO are seriously IT for me. The honeymoon phase is over for both, and I still feel the same way....even contemplating selling my Cameron mods. I wish that I had come across these 2 amps sooner !

You will not regret your purchase of the Soldano. And if you somehow realize that it is not your dream amp, just sell it easily get your money back.
 
I don't like a ton of effects. I'll just be using a slight reverb and about 450ms of delay, with about two or three repeats, and only when soloing.

I thought it was quite forgiving. Requires little effort to make it make noise.

I liked the amp a lot, but I didn't feel it very versatile. I don't want to say it's a one trick pony, but it did have a tendency to do what it does really well and just decently everything else.

Some would say just the opposite, that it improves the sound of the amp (including the folks at Soldano).
 
It depends on the loop....there are some good designs out there now
 
There are 3 amps that I regret selling, vht clx,wizard and the slo... I will own all 3 again someday.

Yeah I really don't know this for sure. When I got the amp I was stoked and frequented the Soldano forum just to read up on the amp. Really, the loop is the only disappointment to me. I have been playing it dry and run a small boost up front and maybe a bit of chorus for the clean channel. I think I read that info on the loop on the Soldano forum. Thing is, even the metro loop on the FJA I have takes just a little bit away from the tone. And that's supposed to be the best available. It's very small but the tone DOES change a bit. I usually leave it off. I do believe Soldano offers a loop mod? Of course you have to ship it to Seattle... :doh:

Same here....
I have a TC Electronic G-Major (Rack Mount)
that I run in the Loop of the SLO with
just a little bit of Reverb & Delay for Lead
work. There are a Ton of Parameter settings
you can dial through the G-Major to get it
set just right for the SLO.
I also run the G-Major through a Suhr Mini-Mix
that changes the Digital Signal to an Analog Signal.
It prevents Coloring the Tone of the SLO...

The Digital signal is like a Kool-Aid mix packet
that you mix with water, changes the Stock Tone
of the amp, to something different.
The Analog signal is like Cake Frosting on Top
of the cake, It Layers the Effects on Top but
doesn't change the Tone of the Amp.

Keep in mind that not only is the loop set at 4+ db , it is also placed before the tone stack.
So some effects still won't sound right compared to a normal loop that's after all the preamp stages but before the PI .
 
Just move the location of the loop if it bothers you. It's not a big deal.

That's how i do it , except i throw a load on the amp with a 200w 8ohm resistor which allows me to crank the amp to it's sweet spot.
Then i set the overall volume with the power amp .
Sounds so much better than the loop. :thumbsup:
