I'm totally "PEEVED"... The end of an American era

Many Marshalls are now made in Viet Nam, Charvels made in Mexico, Boss pedals in China. Seems "Made in USA" (or Japan) will be limited to expensive products only. Sad fact of the global economy.

I drive a 2013 GTI.
I just learned they are made in Mexico as of 2012.

Heh.

I got a message for fucking China. If your going to build guitars, at least take pride in your fucking work. I hope they get a big fucking earthquake and all the factories producing their SHIT come crumbling down. Yeah I know that's harsh, I don't give a fuck. I have to buy 1 humidifier each Winter. They don't fucking last I've had them all. Every brand you can think of. I bought a swiss air, thinking (hey, it's not made in fucking China) and that lasted 4 months. Nobody can make anything that fucking lasts.

Korea seems a little better. But look at fucking Gibson. Still made in the USA, as far as I know, and most current LP's I see look like they were made in China. I have an older one that is nice, but when I saw this firsthand @ GC, I was like holy shit. 1 out of 10 was decent. The others had sub-par fret work. Glue all over the neck. Gaps where the fretboard glues to the top. Binding all marred up from the fret end work.

But you know what, there are some companies that still give a fuck.

This thing is gonna be around long after I'm gone.

Most people do NOT care where something is made, all they care about is the price. It's a sad fact. The average customer looks at a 6505 vs. whatever the Bugera knockoff version is and sees one sells for half the price. Which do you think he's gonna buy?

If you make mainstream, consumer products you cannot survive making it in the USA. The costs of building stuff in this country are far higher than other countries like China, Mexico, etc. And if you don't move your manufacturing there your competition will and you will go out of business. So you either do the same or perish. It's a real shame too because it requires a lot more skill to make an amp than it does to flip burgers. You can thank our corrupt, greedy politicians for a lot of this.

good thing there is a 10 billion usa ones in circulation...

^this. hell i think i have owned around seven or eight myself.

They should tax the shit out of companies that go overseas. I don't know, I'm just your average idiot. But what if the gubmt taxed the shit out of companies that went overseas and also taxed the shit out of products made by companies that resided strictly overseas that import.

This is really sad. The original 5150 set the stage for Peavey to be considered a true professional rock amp. It's a shame that companies are having to close shop due to our horrid economy. With that said, Peavey has always had some questionable business tactics.

Horrid economy!? Hahaha, the economy is fucking booming right now. Stock market is at record highs. Peavey is just mismanaged and they don't know what to do in the new era. So they are fucked.

I've been eating butcher bought rib-eyes once a week for the past 10 years. I had no idea the economy was bad.

yeah, looks tacky, I smell Billy Blades all over that one

I digress, I have a new 6505+ USA made, that I was going to sell but seriously considering hanging on to it...plus us sounds massive!
I don't think mfg in China would be a big deal if they kept the same build quality so to speak, but cheaping-out on parts and assembly is just stupid business.
Uh oh....you had to do it???? Had to mention BB..get ready...his 2 supporters on this forum are licking their chops right now...from the corners of their basement...

If the economy is booming like you say, that certainly does not mean that the music gear industry is doing well. Stock prices are not the only judge of how the economy is doing.

Disappointed to see peavey move amps to china, but can't say I am surprised.

With all due respect dude, learn a little something before making a comment like that. The market is high because interest rates are artificially being kept low so there's no where else for wealthy or anyone for that matter to put their money and see any kind of return. By all other accounts the economy is FAR from fucking booming. Really dude, don't make blatant stupid comments like that.

What they said... We are living in a fake bullcrap economy created by president JV team in the white house and his minions....

Lots of people are looking for work and taking pay cuts. Only the rich wall street wolves are raking it in right now...

I'm lucky because of what I do for a living that none of what has gone down since 2008 has affected me at all...

The economy is doing great guys. Maybe the music industry isn't, but like Reza said, the economy in general is doing well.

I just sold a company relatively quickly with out headache but it was not remotely related to the music industry.

You can't be seriously blaming the shit that was happening BEFORE 2008 on Obama, can you?? I'm not a Democrat, but seriously...that shit was going down since 2006...under curious George. I know a lot of you hate Obama, I get it...but all of that mess happened before 2008.....and continued until recently.
