This is really sad. The original 5150 set the stage for Peavey to be considered a true professional rock amp. It's a shame that companies are having to close shop due to our horrid economy. With that said, Peavey has always had some questionable business tactics.

Horrid economy!? Hahaha, the economy is fucking booming right now. Stock market is at record highs. Peavey is just mismanaged and they don't know what to do in the new era. So they are fucked.

With all due respect dude, learn a little something before making a comment like that. The market is high because interest rates are artificially being kept low so there's no where else for wealthy or anyone for that matter to put their money and see any kind of return. By all other accounts the economy is FAR from fucking booming. Really dude, don't make blatant stupid comments like that.

100% correct. To call the economy booming is extremely ignorant. It's still a disaster and under attack every day.

100% this! ^^^

What they said... We are living in a fake bullcrap economy created by president JV team in the white house and his minions....

Lots of people are looking for work and taking pay cuts. Only the rich wall street wolves are raking it in right now...

I'm lucky because of what I do for a living that none of what has gone down since 2008 has affected me at all...
You can't be seriously blaming the shit that was happening BEFORE 2008 on Obama, can you?? I'm not a Democrat, but seriously...that shit was going down since 2006...under curious George. I know a lot of you hate Obama, I get it...but all of that mess happened before 2008.....and continued until recently.

I just mentioned 2008 because that's when the shit started hitting the fan... That mess is entire government's and Congress's fault both democrat and republican...

The fair housing act started under Bill Clinton which gave birth to the housing bubble even before "ass wipe Bush" was president, the NY Times reported this ad-nauseum in 1999...

The Times reported in 1999 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were under pressure from the Clinton administration to increase lending to minorities and low-income home buyers and basically anyone with a heart beat who wanted a house...

This gave way to the whole fannie/freddie debacle and the bundling of bad mortgages and all the mess that continued under Bush unfortunately. But the graphs published by the NY Times clearly showed it continued to a far lesser degree under Bush than it did under Billy Boy Clinton.

At one point in his second term Bush went to congress 2x to try and tried to bring this crap to thier attention and get something done about it, but as usual congress (which was all democratically controlled at the time ) did jack squat and the wheels fell off everything...

IMO It is fallacy to Blame one person when the entire fucking Federal government dropped the ball over and over again on both sides of the aisle... Career politicians are fucking this country over backwards.

The politicians want Americans to keep blaming the other party to keep us from taking to heart what Ronald Regean said... "GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM"... All of it!

The same shit is still going on today in Washington but it is just a different shade of brown and Americans are getting screwed...

I remember back then people were saying "things are great" and were throwing money around like water and buying and selling houses and refinancing everything until it came crashing down...

Wait until interest rates rise at some point and you will see what happens... All we are doing is keeping the genie in the bottle by not raising rates and printing money like water...

The cliff that we are about to go over is not far off IMO if shit don't change...

The crazy thing is that I feel totally different about "Made in China" than I do about "Made in Japan". I remember how great the Japanese guitars were and even now, people still dig the Charvels and EVH ones made there. With China, it just seems like factories with no feeling. I remember reading an article about a factory over there (might have been Peavey) and they have the workers in dorms right on site and they looked bored to death making the amps. You could have put anything in their hands and they would just plug away.

I love seeing an amp builder like Dave Friedman and the success he has had. People will pay a bit more for a quality product you can get in the U.S. Great sounding amps. Hopefully some of these companies will start coming back home but I get it. The world is getting smaller.

What the market reflects is that companies are making money. That doesnt always mean Main St is doing well.

I wonder if the new 6505 mini head will be a POS, I have one on order already....sorry if this is off topic....

Most people do NOT care where something is made, all they care about is the price. It's a sad fact. The average customer looks at a 6505 vs. whatever the Bugera knockoff version is and sees one sells for half the price. Which do you think he's gonna buy?

If you make mainstream, consumer products you cannot survive making it in the USA. The costs of building stuff in this country are far higher than other countries like China, Mexico, etc. And if you don't move your manufacturing there your competition will and you will go out of business. So you either do the same or perish. It's a real shame too because it requires a lot more skill to make an amp than it does to flip burgers. You can thank our corrupt, greedy politicians for a lot of this.

Mesa Boogie is still 100% USA with no cheap import line while Marshall and others have polluted the market with cheap imports. I hope Mesa can hang in there, they have slimed down their amp line and are offering more in low wattage amps now that seem very popular.

And ALL the amp companies can thank 2-notes as well.

Peavey's parts and mnfg have come from China for years already.

Hartly's just sealing the deal.

Kinda hard to have "skilled labor" when you fire everybody.

Were talking amps here, not the Space Shuttle.

Even if he had the best labor he would nickel and dime them til they couldn't make a living.

It will be a decent amp I think because there will nothing USA made to compare it too like the original 6505's and 5150's

Mesa has hung in there pretty good.

Peavey has a huge foot print on musical gear though like PA, and keyboards and all that other kind of stuff mesa has never gotten into...

Exactly! Most Democrats will tell you that Obama is Bush II. It was Bush's SCOTUS appointee who cast the deciding vote, making the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) the law of the land. We can't blame Presidents for interest rates... The Fed is a stock holder owned organization, free of any involvement by the USG. I imagine Hillary will be the next POTUS, so don't expect things the get any better. "Meet the new boss..."

Bingo. The US of A is headed for a financial meltdown and it will eventually happen. It's only a matter of time.

5150's have had "made in Mexico" on the back for over 15 years,

If you think the Faux economy is booming you are HIGH. You really need to quit watching CNN and ABC and really dig in to the news read the Drudge report or infowars and pull you head out of your ASS. It really pisses me off when people read or watch propped up fluffy news without getting to the real stuff.

The Market shouldn't be the only indicator used to determine that the economy has recovered; GDP(http://www.theatlantic.com/past/politics/ecbig/gdp.htm), real estate,National Debt, etc, should be given consideration too. The GDP link is older but gives insight into a previous recession and how numbers can be fudged to look good on paper. I think we are on a bubble and if it bursts the dollar will no longer be a staple( similar to if gold crashes, then the next Periodic number will be the standard).

I can tell you that the job market is tough; I have over 10 years experience as a manager in both retail and manufacturing environments and I'm frequently experiencing hiring sessions the size of large classrooms for the past 8 months. My competition are former upper management. This isn't one of the indicators for the success of the economy, nor is more accurate unemployment criteria. I could be wrong about the bubble, in which case, carry on.

People will buy their goods as cheap as possible, hence the success of companies like Wallmart. The American companies who subscribe to this formula are making a profit at the expense of a quality good but this is a strange "Catch 22" where we are digging our own hole in an attempt to save money because we are making less money possibly due to the global economy and spreading the wealth. This is just my .02 and maybe I'm full of crap, don't take it personal.

I lost respect after that Undercover boss .Hartley sitting in his A/c trailer saying " Oh woe is me " about employee's .He is an ass

For years I thought It was Ed who was tough to work with ,when I read Ed saying how Hartly totally screwed him in the Wolfgang amp deal .I though man probably just a story and Ed's bitter.

Now ,I think i may actually buy the Peavey stole my designs and Hartley is an Ahole claim from VH

Politics is always a hot button issue..people are extremely passionate about their allegiances. All I know is that things are better than they were, certainly. Maybe not booming like the 90s but clearly better. Lots of reasons for that. But one thing is unfortunately certain....manufacturing ain't happening in this country anymore unfortunately with some exceptions.
