What speakers are you using with your MTL?
My 2 main 4x12 cabs are a Wizard cab with 2 Heritage G12M 25's on top and 2 Heritage G12H30's on the bottom and an EVH with 2 Heritage G12M 25's on top and 2 V30's on the bottom. ( guess where the 2 G12M's for the Wizard cab came from   )
Both my MTL and MCII sound best to me with the Wizard cab with the H30's on the bottom.
The MTL sounds ok through the EVH cab with the V30's on the bottom, but I don't like the MCII with the V30's.
I guess I would say go with the M65 / H75 Creamback mix to start, and see what you think.
Are you a fan of the V-30 voicing in the mids? The Wizard's are so clear and punchy that I find V30's a bit much, but see what you think of the amp when it lands.
And congratulations
You won't be disappointed!!
Im sure at some point Ill wind up getting a Wizard cab. I have a Bogner cab with V30s. To be honest, sometimes the V30s bug me. Too strident. I also have a 4x12 loaded with WGS Vet 30s, and they are much more relaxed.
Ill try the Wizard with both of course. But Im leaning towards a Creamback loaded cab.

I tried V30's/creams, and
all creambacks, but settled on all V30's

Some of you may not dig the western tolex, but I love it! All my amps are black, so this is a refreshing change. Classy AF.
Its a loaded 2016 100 watt.

I wasn't expecting much from the clean channel, but damn its nice! Full and chimey. And that bright knob on the back is very powerful. My main Les Paul has low to mid output PAFs, and it stays nice and clean until about 6 or 7 on the gain knob. Then its crunch city. Pull the boost and Im in 70s rock mode.

And as for the lead channel, well I don't know what other adjectives people here have used to describe a Wizard, but theyre all spot on. This amp is F'n huge sounding. Even with the eq all at noon. I don't see myself having to fuss with the eq much. But for kicks I turned up the depth knob. That just punches you in the gut. And there is ZERO mush. Its all clear solid gain.

Im in my apartment so I cant really turn it up till I use it with the band. So, I engaged the loop to bring down the overall levels, and upped the channel masters a little. Nice!

One thing that really stood out is how my LP neck pickup sounds so clear. Even with high gain. Now that's something many people can understand is tricky sometimes. But this Wizard just laughed and said no problem bro, bring it!

enjoy that new wizard, my favorite amp beyond my older marshalls. Own an MC2 and also a 50w 2x12 MC Combo. Have found I like the cleaner Wizards over time (MC), may try a vintage in the future.

These amps solve the the "thin, compressed" problem. Very acoustic... the way it should be. Cuts through the stage and mix.

I have no experience with the Wizards (though I hope to one day). But I didn't care for the V30 bottom/EVH Greenbacks top that I tried with the Friedman BE100 I'm running into it. So I left the EVHs up top and put my H30s in bottom and WOW... what a smooth, crunchy, pleasant tone. V30s just aren't my thing.

Congrats OP... the Wizards can shock someone coming off an amp with a gained out/compressed preamp design.. those amps allow you to pull off shreddy legato stuff you could never execute acoustically- the Wizard will not, its just you and how you really sound exposed... lol

There are some great examples in this thread demonstrating how speaker selection can be such a personal thing....
I love the M25 / H30 mix with my Wizards, but prefer my BE100 through the M25 / V30 cab. The guy up-thread went all V-30's with his Wizard MTL, which wouldn't work for me at all.
With speakers and cabs, there is no right answer.......

-congrats, a WIZARD is a man's amp, now your forever doomed to never settle for an ordinary amp, I never heard one WIZARD clip that gave me gas for one-(heard lots of gotta experience it, feel, etc.)-only one clip actually made me hear it differently-(EROCK's clip)-only amp I've heard that lives up to the hype,

-I've got a WIZARD MC I -(upgraded to a MC II)-

-speakers-(tried a bunch of the greenback variant's, 15" FULLBACK & the only 2 V-30 variant's I like-(MARSHALL & MESA proprietaries)-pretty much all of them sounded good to great, what I liked best was 2 MARSHALL proprietary V-30's on the bottom & a single 55hz-8ohm-greenback on top-(detuned cab)-the lone 55hz-8ohm-greenback actually dominate's the 2 V-30's, I may put it on the bottom. I think the cab makes a bigger than usual difference with a WIZARD,

I you haven't tried a MTL, I gotta say. You owe it to yourself. It's so god damn awesome

Im only 2 days in, and I agree 100%. This amp is on a whole different level. That saturation knob is key. I wish every high gain amp had one.

Thanks everyone! Im on a Wizard high right now.

Thanks for all the great speaker suggestions. It seems the majority like to mix speakers with their Wizards. Ill give that a shot.

SCORE!
Congrats man, thats one amp I would love to get my paws on

Everyone has different settings but I set my gain pretty low, about 12 o'clock which is still a ton on this head. I barely crack the sat on, because it starts compressing it a bit much for my tastes. Of course I'm hitting the front with a suhr koko boost with just a touch of boost and mid boost for some extra jangle.
Sounds incredible!!!

So far Im happy with the lead gain around 4-5 (11-12 o'clock), and the saturation btw 2-3 (9 o'clock). I get great sustain and Im not using any boost pedals. I also find that pinch harmonics jump out very easily, even with these modest gain settings. Im floored by the monstrous tone of this amp!

Im now planning to invest in a Wizard 4x12. :D

The western hand tooled looking tolex gives it class and a tame look.....

...untill all hell breaks loose when you hit the first cowboy chord

Awesome! Wizards are the real deal-I've had a few Modern Classics and a Metal from the mid 90's. All of them were fantastic!
