Surprised it seems no one here owns one yet. I am considering one but looking for real world reviews beforehand. There seems to be very little out there about the VH2 at this moment.

The VH2 is KT77 which is quite different than both those amps. I was able to squeeze a nice tone bringing in more highs using small touches on an MXR 10 band eq. It left me wanting for highs...pretty much on all 3 of my cabs, but the eq sort of helped. I'm a 6L6 guy i guess because a lot of the amps i think sound great have 6L6 tubes. That said i really like the clarity of my ENGL better. The smokey EL34 tone from my DV mark also has great clarity and is VERY articulate. This VH2 is between that..but it doesn't have the clarity of either of my other amps. It does have that German bottom end that my engl has but the VH2 is a lot duller. As to where my ENGL sounds juicy and thick. I personally wasn't "blown away" by this amp, but it was not bad by any means.
Now i have several guitars to experiment with...and most all my guitars sounded too dull...making me unhappy with the tone.
One of my guitars is brighter than most, a Kiesel GH24. Now that guitar on the VH2 sounded awesome! So when i'm playing on that head i'm on the Kiesel. Bandmates were like the "The Kiesel likes the Diezel" lol. My PRS SC594, Jackson PC1, sounded very dark. My PRS artist custom 24 sounded good on it too, but its got a different tone than most other PRS cu24s i've owned.
All in all I've only had a few hours with the amp...but i think my struggles are mostly me dealing with my first encounter with KT77 tubes.
All that being said...it mixes well jamming along with the ENGL...the VH2 is a completely different tone..and compliments the ENGL. That was my goal anyway.

I never had a VH4 so I can't compare them.
Nope. Although I'd really be quite interested in trying one out and seeing a) what the first channel is all about, and b) if it does the VH4 Ch.3 thang. But to splash on it just for curiosity sake? Likely not - I'd just be keen to try one to feel it out. I've been a long time VH4 owner, it's a staple in the stable, and for good reason - it's special. But I gotta say? It's Ch.3 80% of the time - and that's a lot of "AMP" for hanging around one channel. As Stapfer would say, "Well, sell the other three channels then...!!" (it's a joke they mention on their site and to clients about the only channel they use on the VH4). I think this is a cool option - 2 channels - and the price is banger for exactly that.John4021":1tk1trx1 said:Did you get one Unkle Mo?

How good is the clean channel? Takes pedals well?
Does the amp sound good at bedroom volume?
One could only hope not. As *any* change to the holiness of the coveted "VH4 Ch.3" would leave purists pissed. They may not even be able to detect a difference in the tone from the original 4 channel model, but just "knowing" there "could be" a change is where the sonically-obsessed delve into a spiral of madness.Apex1Rg7X":3fxw0uyl said:Wasn't it also mentioned at one point that the gain was kicked up a notch on the VH-2 as opposed to the VH-4? Supposed to be a touch more aggressive?
