Yeah, I don't want to be a party pooper either because it sounds good but it doesn't sound as good as Aldrich's tone and I hear the fizz. Is the fizz I am hearing the Kemper? Because i find in isolated tracks, this is where the digital thing sort of rears it's ugly head. Same with speaker impulses. Tube amp through mic still has it's place at the head of the rock work in my opinion. It's cool though.
Yeah, I'm sure I sound like a party pooper as well, but it is what it is.. Sounds nothing like Aldrich's tone, (albeit, HE'S not playing it, either). Add that to impulses, recording gizmos, reamping, etc., it just further adds to the digital fizz-factor.
I'm not sure when people will realize players not only have a distinctive tone, but also a feel, that establishes that tone.
George Lynch, for example.. Played Marshalls, Bogners, Randalls, Diezels, etc., but always sounds like George Lynch tone. I think Nugent said it best, when he toured with EVH. He plugged into Eddie's rig one night, cranked it up, and managed to sound like, as he put it, Ted Nugent.
Two people could plug into the same guitar, amp, settings, etc, and someone will likely say, "I like that guy's tone better", without knowing the only thing different, is THE PLAYER.
