Just wanted to say I've been on this site for about 2 months and this is the best gear/guitar/free speech site. It's nice to be able to talk about things without worrying about getting banned. A lot of posters here are sane too. That's all.

Similar for me. A lot of forums are apparently run by low IQ Commies and partly stocked with low IQ Commie posters, although they call everyone who doesn't strictly bow to them, i.e. regular people, "Nazis", demonstrating they know Jack Shit about Nazis.

This is the most open music forum I've ever seen. You guys are my people. Chill mods by far compared to other sites, and I haven't seen stuffy bluze lawyer types who sniff at anything they consider below their standards, or too many schizoids or psychopaths running around.

I'm an '80s kid, and as Paul Gilbert said, "You can take the man out of the '80s, but you can't take man out of the '80s out of the man". Actually, I was still a kid through most of the '90s, but I like the spirit of the '80s far more, and the late '60 thru '70s that laid the foundation for it all.

I'm obsessed with Mesa Boogie Mark amps and t.c. electronic effects. Also a voracious consumer of superstats, although I also have LPs, SGs, Teles and traditional SSS Strats. My core guitars are Jackson, Charvel, ESP, Edwards, B.C. Rich, Ibanez and Fender Strats and Teles. I also play drums at an intermediate level and climbing (easily good enough demos) and bass at a fairly high level, although I still recognize the difference between myself and a real bass player.

I have a full studio in my basement and record projects as often as I can (even a very nice keyboard, although I am a strictly a hack keyboardist for backing chords), My favorite part of music is CREATING-----writing, producing and jamming to explore where it will take us. My goal is to retire very early from the corporate world so I can become a ~full time producer and work on serious projects for clients, all the while continuing my own. Fame is of no concern, neither are non-original gigs or low level gigs at this point unless the material was ideal. If I did have some fame, I'd want it to happen as a producer/performer. Best example of today is probably Steven Wilson, I totally admire what he has done in his career. I will eventually move farther out and have enough space to build my ultimate studio/jam bunker without concern for the neighborhood Karens bitching about the noise. That's when things will get serious.

@Uzi Nein Millimetah Yes. No offense to those who were born after 1990, but the 1980s were just a magical time. It's funny to think that people were worried about a lot of the similar problems we have now, yet it was a much simpler time. Kids didn't have cell phones, people were outside more on their skateboards, Sweet Child o'Mine was on the radio, people were not on depression drugs in high numbers, etc. Critics will say the 80s had a lot of cheese music -- it certainly did. Bad production on a lot of albums too. But, it was all worth it to get the better side of the 80s. I will say that gear today though is ridiculously better than what those guys had back then. We have endless options today that people in 1988 couldn't even fathom, yet we struggle to find new exciting music. Also, I love the Mark series amps (well, I mean the 6L6 or EL34 versions.
