Is a boosted IIC+ the same as a IIC++?

Put this together with my switchable C+/++ KRG. Of course I have opinions and... you tell me..?

the keeley sounds best here to me which is interesting, ive never tried boosting with a compressor. the ts9 and od1 sound good but kind of "de-iic+" if that makes sense?? the ++ i dont really like, seems like it took away all the girth. if i was recording id probably lay the first couple tracks down unboosted and then see what works in the mix with boosting, all of them could be good.

In person, the SRG C+ and HRG ++ I had were very close but the low mids were beefier on the ++.

The ++ circuit works to boost and eq the signal into the latter gain stages - post the front tone stack, so putting the boost at the front might be tough to get the same result. But I'm sure with eq and boost tweaks you could get super close - sounds very similar in the mic'd up clips

Honestly I'm confused, for high gain at least, why they named it "compressor". To me it's a very organic and fairly transparent boost. In the room it does retain a lot of the feels that the traditional boosts compress away. I like it.

No, the ++ changes the cleans as well if I remember correctly. I think the cleans on that amp are absolutely stunning, and it alters the amp.

Always enjoying you clips! Great comparison. Prefer ++ and + most. Since the rev C is gone what’s your rocking now besides the KRG?

The ++ mod increases the output in the clean section and further drives the latter gain stages. I believe there is an EQ tweak to account for the hotter signal.

That said, there is a secret depth mod that some people have had done to really increase the amps bottom and throw. Mike B is discreet with whom he shares it with.

Do you know it? :)

It does, however you can get them back with turning V1 WAY down / low output PUPs. Normal amp to amp variance definitely comes into play here as well, some I could still get crystal cleans & some I could not.

Mike "Deep Modded" my M180. It's cool for certain things, and for MOST things, honestly it's way too much bottom end. As in not usable amounts.

Never enjoyed any of the deep setting on Boogie poweramps. Too over the top.

He added a depth mod to a strategy 400 I had years ago. Just added a simple switch to engage a .005uf cap. It was WAYYYY too much. I removed it and added a Cameron style depth pot with a push pull to switch between two caps. Made it a lot better.

When I had my sixty watt, reverb, GE mesa Boogie Mark 2 I didn't need a booster but I did experiment with a paraEQ, boosters and overdrive both in the front of the amp and FX Loop with a lot of different results like making my Mesa Sound like a Marshall and getting more sustain perfect for lead and more clean feedbacking sustain,

I had one with it... it was too much bass for me.
