I don't really care one way or the other. I think I'm fixing to throw my mint Mark IV on eBay and part ways with the Mark series and Mesa for good.

Explain more please.

I always see people trashing the Mark IV. Funny how an afternoon at Ralphs can turn the most stubborn Marshall die hard into Mesa Boogie GAS fits.

...I played a DSL recently which i thought was decent, but i know i would get tired of it's ratty sounding gain. There justw asn't enough smooth lead tones in there for me.

I agree that the Marshall stuff can be bright in the bedroom, but it's a whole other animal with a band. I mean, does this sound ratty? That's 100% DSL with no studio trickery. Well, the guitars are doubled and have reverb, but that's it.

You're just used to that processed muffled "pillow over the speaker" Mesa Mark tone.  Just messing with ya.

Like Iv'e said in other posts, i think a used DSL around $600 makes for a great platform for some mods and whatnot. I think the DSL blows the shitty JCM900 away, and i used JCM900's dozens of times loud with different bands. And i actually think the DSL can sound good at lower volumes. Also, i tried the DSL out on a cab that i normally wouldn't use so i know it can sound good on some Greenbacks.

Funny how i compared the DSL to the JVM when the JVM first came out and carla jumped all over me   What a fucking shithead because i prefer the DSL over the JVM.

I feel the same way about my DSL. It definitely needs to pushed a little before I'm satisfied with the tone. I agree that once you get it up to band volume it really smokes.

I own my dream amp right now, so I don't need the Mark IV or the other 8 amps I have right now. Couple that with the March closure of the studio I'm using right now and I just don't have a need for it any longer.

I think the Mark IV is one of the best amps I've ever owned. I've owned 5 of them. I've just owned Mesas forever. I'm going to load up on something that suits me and my playing to a T.

:)

Sadly, not excited about gear much anymore. Though I am wanting few more guitars. I'd Love Neal Schon Les Paul, and a few assorted others.

I'm looking forward to playing one.

Probably won't be in the market, but all the tonal options of the Mark series has always appealed to me.

I'm sort of excited but knowing I won't buy it makes it kinda non-exciting at the same time. lol.

I actually bought my first IIC+ on Ebay. It showed up on a Friday and i brought it with me to a gig in Danbury Conn at Tuxedo Junction and used it that night. I didn't really know how to tweak it so my clean was LOUD and i had to use my volume knob. That's a nice big stage and i had lots of fun that night.

I remember that place, for all I know I saw your band :D

Some dude that some people believe at HCAF just wrote a review after playing the MK V at the Boogie store and holy shit the hyper bowl is going to make all other new amps released seem like it never happened :scared:

From his review even I got some gas

I well be picking one up as soon as they are here.
That has been the plan since 89.
I do not feel excited at this time. :)

I have never owned or played a Mesa but am very curious about this amp. I need something with a clean channel, a crunch channel and a lead channel with the ability to bump the crunch and lead channels for solo's. I am hoping this will do the trick as i'm growing tired of searching for an amp that will.

Spent some time with the VM but it just didn't do it for me.

Have you tried the Koch Powertone II?
It has the features you want, I had the version 1, and regret selling it. Sounds great in my ears.

The longer you've been on forums and have seen new product announcements with the correseponding pattern of events you get numb to it because you know what will happen.

An initial rush of frantic early adopters clammering to be first, then the consequential shakeout phase with a wave of sell offs, and the market corrects itself back to normal.

I can see some Mesa haters being caught up in the hype/feature set and buying one, then selling it because it still sounds like a Mesa Boogie.

The last time I played any Mark amp was a mark iv at psychodave's. Ralph was dialing in the amp while I was playing and the whole time Ralph and Harry were laughing at me because of the big, stupid grin on my face.

I'm excited  And maybe well finally get a Mark series amp that will offer a killer clean, rhythm, and lead without compromising each other.

Signed!!

I was back and forth with the Mark lV if I should buy it, nah don't buy it. With this one if it sounds as good as the hype I think I will take the plunge and add it to the stable.

I will look at it, wont be buying this year though because 2009 is the year of manning up and getting a plexi  After the Plexi maybe this would be a better fit than the roadster that I played.

Does not matter, no amp has made my playing any better anyways

Get a crappy acoustic with high action and 13 gauge strings. That will do more for your playing than any amp will.

I don't like amps that are so tricky to dial-in that it takes somebody with "the secret" settings to make it sound good, no offense to Ralph, but if I can't get an amp to sound good in about 2 minutes "out of the box" then I try something else.

Im in love with my AxeFx, For me, it covers everything I loved about my MkIV and boogies in general plus so much more So no, Im not chomping at the bit to own one at all. IF there was one amp out there that really interests me , its the Stilleto. I love Boogs and I love Marshalls so Boogies take on a Marshall is a very intruiging concept... That said, Im sure that I could get the tone out of the AF after becoming familiar with it...

A Plexi would compliment your current stable very well.

I need to get a Marshall/Marshallesque type amp again at some point, I thought the Splawn would be it but the search continues...
