Is the new Tremoline T36 an OFR Floyd killer????????

The Original Floyds Fender is using now on the Ultra-Luxe are made in the USA.

Germany was probably making them better.

Interesting they moved production here....
In the future say I was upgrading a cheaper guitar with a cheap floyd....would a Schaller Lockmeister fit the same??

That's the thing................... I kind of am a purist and like giving USA made products my business first and foremost and for the new USA Floyd quality to be inferior to the German made floyds is utter crap IMHO.

I completely agree but then....does a Cadillac have better quality than a BMW?

And I don't gig but not having the D-Tuna capability really a deal breaker? How hard is it to turn the peg 3 times? @SFW

What was the issue?
Two of the saddles would not articulate up or down with the finer tuners. They were so tight they were frozen, I had to transplant two saddles from the old Floyd from 1983 that had full movement.

I don't understand why Floyd is putting out inferior products.
Yeah, me neither Johnny, you think they would know how to make a quality product after all these years. Maybe mine was a fluke as alot of builders use them so who knows. Mine was the 1984 Floyd Rose model so it was NOT the standard model.

That sucks. I've got one USA 1984 and a crapton of German OFRs across the decades and my US one is as nice or nicer. But it doesn't surprise me if they have teething pains.

I have a US model and it's pretty nice. Fine tuners are smooth and the fit and finish is beautiful.

Just came across this video and thought it was cool..............................my recent 2025 USA made Floyd 1984 purchase was a disappointment because of poor QC...I had to completely replace to two saddles which were completely frozen and would not articulate up or down with the fine tuners.

Floyd killer??? No!!! Floyd killed Floyd. Worst vibrato system in existence. There a million things wrong with the inheritant design that could have been re-engineered decades ago. The angle alone between the locking nut and the headstock is half of the problem. Just adding it as they did created problems.

The average player isn’t going to buy a Floyd, because it’s superfluous and not user friendly for servicing. Exactly why Fender and Gibson continue to rule.

They must have changed during late production?

I have a couple of '21 Ultra Luxe with floyds that I just purchased used and both are stamped Made in Germany on the underside. To compare, I also have one new guitar with the newer made in US floyd and I pulled that trem off of it and replaced it with a new German one that I had. The fine tuners are thicker at the edges and the threads are not at all precision tapped like they previous units were. They are stiffer like a 1000 bridge is. The baseplate is also about 1/8mm thinner as well. Not all that impressed at all with the quality of the baseplate itself. The saddles are good though as are the new insert blocks.

The one thing I will say that is improved are the new 3d printed lock nuts that Floyd is making in house. I picked up one of these to replace the stock floyd nut on the guitar. These are really nicely made! The only issue is that the holes are very, very slightly moved back for top loading if you are replacing your stock floyd nut, you may need to dowel and re-drill as I did.

If stainless is non conductive, why is there a ground wire to the front spring block?
Just wondering..

Just another trem. FR's ain't going away anytime soon. FR is the most copied trem on the planet.

The fine tuners thing is funny - carefully tapped threads feel better for sure, but they're more likely to turn if you bump the tuner on accident while playing.

I'm tempted to add some sort of source of friction to some of mine, but I'm not sure what would be the best option.

On a locking trem setup, yes, it is a deal breaker. It's not just turning the tuning ped three times. It is unclamping, tuning, re-clamping. During a show this is a lot of dead air. I am sure that this is a fantastic new trem system. However, not having a quick way to get to drop tunings means that it won't work for me.

I just use the fine tuner without unclamping. There's enough range to do it as long as you plan ahead when tuning and clamping initially, which you have to do with the D Tuner too IME.

Very True...but the spring plate below should provide enough tension on them to keep them somewhat tight but still moving smoothly. If you have the trem apart, you can carefully bend the spring plate back to shape a bit but I wouldn't do it a lot.
