I've noticed many of you are quite talented with animation. Pretty cool!!!
I have no dog in this fight.....

But it makes for good reading! ;)

Yes, I do find the groupthink* to be somewhat amusing.

*aka bluesthink

Ok. ladies, here's a first mix, unmastered, of your old buddy axemeaquestion playing the axe.
Havnt read the whole thread. Lotta BS to wade through.
Some cool playing in your clip. Took me right back to the 80's. Guess we all have era's we get stuck in. Thing that surprised me was the Split Enz moment at about 00:16-00:18.
Not a very challenging progression to solo over but you made it sound interesting and kept it short.

No, it's basically all over an E, which is about as basic as it gets. It starts on the two, which I consider to be a groundbreaking, never-done-before technique. I'm pretty sure the guy who tabs it for the mags is going to have to interview me first.

Yes, I'm definitely influenced by the 80's, primarily Randy Rhoads.

Not hearing any Randy Rhoads but Im picking up on the Setzer vibe. I liked the descending run you play that creates a tripping over feeling. Very Abrasive Wheels or Television. (70's I know)

No, there's really no Rhoads in that solo, but in some of my other stuff there is.

Setzer? Hmm. Hadn't seen that myself.

Equal use of chromatic notes and interval's.
Playing something wiggy and then tying it in with an in note.
Old jazz blues thing.

Yeah, Randy did have a fair amount of blues stuff in his playing. I honestly try to avoid it, although I will throw some in for variety.

For sure he was my main influence, followed by Jimmy Page (I call him Pagey bc I'm cool), Satriani, Alex Lifeson and my ole buddy Holdsworth. Holdsworth is more of a conceptual thing as an influence.
