I've heard one blues song: I get it

I was on a HUGE blues kick for quite a while. Even played in a blues band for FOUR years.

Man, I burnt out on it bad. If I hear blues I turn it off. If I see one more vintage guitar and 18 watt amp I think I might just puke.

I'm back to where I started heavy rock.

Regarding the original post. I understand, but the intent of your post was to inflame. That's cool, I understand that too.

Ok. ladies, here's a first mix, unmastered, of your old buddy axemeaquestion playing the axe.

Dude I usually don't diss but after listening to you ramble on about how boring the blues is and blah blah blah, and THEN hearing you play, I will say this IMO your feel, tone and choice of notes all really suck. Don't quit your dayjob.

johnny, you should have seen my facial expressions as I was laying down the track. Incredible emotion.

A great Blues player only needs to play one note. WTF are you talking about?
I was going to post that you wouldn't have your Holdsworth if it wasn't for the blues right after you started this ignorant thread. Where do you think Blues came from? It came from a depressed peoples, mostly slaves. It was a combination of American and Afro music. The same player you say you love has a great appreciation for the Blues. You are a hypocrite.

I'm a hypocrite bc Holdworth likes the blues and I don't, yet I like Holdsworth.

Got it.

Well, I for one could care less if anyone hates any style of music.
I love all styles of music from blues to real funk to rock to metal to progressive to fusion and jazz and on and on...
And I am a fan of Holdsworths technical abilities and own several of his CD's.
So I can understand if you are a Holdsworth fan, that you wouldn't like the more simple things in music like blues.
But after listening to that clip that you posted, it is extremely far from anything Holdsworth would ever play.
If that is even you playing, you start off in a BLUES scale with a few minor passing tones then do a typical run of the mill major/minor run that says nothing.
70% of this forum can play that and way better.
I personally can't stand Clapton, Hendrix or even Yngwie for that matter, but I respect everything they have done for the instrument.
Hell, I even hate the Beatles, but they were about the best song writers to ever walk the planet.
But it doesn't mean I have to like or listen to them.
And I wouldn't say they suck. I simply don't enjoy listening to them.
I usually have no problem with anyones opinions, even if it is intended to troll as yours was, but you sound like an ass hat.
I think that if you spent a little more time opening up your mind to any other styles of music, it will surely benefit you in your musical mishaps.
You may actually learn how to implement some feel, vibrato, dynamics and overall musicality to your generic sounding playing.
Take a listen to my friend Oz Noy.
He can easily hang with Holdsworth, but actually has feel and life in his playing.
Like I said, I like Holdsworth, but he is extremely sterile, boring and lifeless to just about everyone except Jazz Twats.
Good day sir.

Oh, good day. Yes, my clip would be far from anything Holdsworth would play. I love the guy but never said my playing approached his level. I can play next to none of his stuff, but I still consider him in an influence.

I checked out your buddy, Oz Noy. Only two songs, but that's enuff to come to a final conclusion. Great chops, same old backing tracks. He does spend a lot of time looking at his left hand, which takes his focus away from the emotions he is trying to evoke. You know, emotions like love, shock, playfullness, trust, remorse, submission, etc. Great solos, great technique though.

Tons of Holdsworth stuff is very emotional. You're telling me the solo from The Things You See has no emotion? Uh, ok.

Shouldnt you be practicing your whole tones other than getting butt hurt on this forum????I can't even believe you are still replying to this shit!!
I can't believe I even did:)

I wouldn't say I'm making fun of the genre. I'm questioning the appeal of it due to its simplicities compared to other genres. If the first scale they teach you is the pentatonic scale, when you know nothing about guitar, then that tells you something.

I got a question for axemeaquestion...you play guitar full time (on tour) or do you have a day job?

So you're axing axemeaquestion a question.

I have a day job.

I can't recall, did Clapton or SRV have day jobs?

Doubtful. Heroin addicts keep kinda weird hours.

I can't recall, was Clapton a heroin addict before, during or after he won 18 Grammy Awards?

You'd have to run that by previous Grammy winners Milli Vanilli.

Who had that Grammy taken from them when it was discovered they were a farce. What's your point?

You pointed out an error by the Grammy committee. Obviously they make errors. One could argue that they have made other mistakes as well.

If you've got the balls to so blatantly rip a genre, then you should have the stones to post your music so we can critique it.

I wouldn't have the balls to make such asinine statements like "if you've heard one blues song you've heard them all".

So I've got more balls than you, friend. You can work on that.

Yeah you've got more balls to say ignorant shit. I'm not sure that's something to brag about.
Im not sure that balls has anything to do with it LOL!!!
