And it's pretty much true. I'll give you that SRV was tremendous and took the genre about as far as it could go, but beyond that, it's pretty much jamming and noodling.
Let's face it. You can pretty much play any blues song on your stereo (that's like an ipod for you younger shredders) and jam along with it immediately. If that's a feature of the music, then the music isn't very advanced, ergo, it's no good.
No, I'll take my Allan Holdsworth, thank you very much.
Congratulations! You've just won the dumbass post of the month award.![]()
My statement was a general statement about how we behave as humans. In our efforts to build ourselves up, we sometimes try attempt to de-legitamize that which we cannot attain. In the example of bashing some really, really great blues players, I would say that being technically proficient is irrelevant. It's not what you play, but how you play it.
I actually really enjoy listening to Holdsworth, but at the end of the day, guys like SRV, BB King, and David Gilmour can say more with three notes then guys like Holdsworth can in fifty. I would even be willing to put one of my favorite guitar players, John Pettrucci, in the same boat as Holdsworth.
Also I would like to hear your blues playing, help justify your statements.
