Man .... I was disappointed in Jacksons greed when I was looking for another guitar 6 or so months ago.

I love my USA RR1s as much as any other fanboy but the Jackson greed is getting out of control. 2100$ for a Korean Rhoads ? 1500+ $ for a MII pro series ? 1k for a Chinese Guitar ? 3k for the new MIJ Rhoads and I cant even get a Tremolo of any kind or SD pickups ? 4500$+ for a production line Guitar ? Are you kidding me ?

You can buy two used mint ESP E-II/Standard guitars for that price and still have money left over

If you want to get even more value for your money you can get a High End Edwards which is at worse a very very small cut below E-II in quality for 60% of the cost of the E-ii. The artist Signatures Edwards are supposedly more comparable to their ESP counterparts like the older Alexi Models.

A Jacksons slightly flatter speed neck isn't worth an extra 2-3k imo because lets face it theres very little difference in how good they play compared to a ESP. I used to have two LTD Vs and they always played great for their price so a Japanese one im sure is absolutely phenomenal.

I see now why alot of artists have left in the last 5 years because its probably comparable to being a Gibson artist and not even getting a discount.

Im sitting here laughing at them because its so stupid. Youre literally paying double just for the Jackson name now.
 
Look, you gotta fork it out for the shit. If u want it then deal. I just scored a killer old as is '86 old school Jackson bc that's what it took. Did it cost me more than it has in the past? Yeah, if I sat on the sidelines I knew I would never see one like it so what's done is done and I'm grateful.

lol you didn't have to "fork it out" just a couple years ago. I never paid more than 2k for my RR1s and one was just a new b stock but I digress. I just talked to a local guy who wants 5500$ for standard 1985 Jacksons. Ones not even a RR1 , its the student model before the RR1 was fully designed and has a basic fretboard with dot inlays and a khaler trem on it.

Jacksons target demographic has definitely changed and theyre not just the fast playing metal workhorses they used to be. Theyre only for collectors with FU money now . I just cant justify spending over 2.5k on something new or lightly used knowing its gonna get the shit played out of it, worn out and beat up at gigs. Guitars are meant to be played and gigged with unless its something really boutique or rare.

Just my two cents.

im not upset or anything just kinda disappointed in the brands greed. I think its funny some people think theyre worth what they are now but to each their own.

the entire guitar market is crazy now ... very few second hand deals and mega inflation has lead to everything being expensive .... ain't gonna change for a long time so either suck it up or don't buy
 
If you are talking run of the mill models it was never out of reach for sure and on that I see your point. Afa new, why would anyone want a new Jackson anyways. The woods aren't nearly what they were, I consider it a waste.

People can spend their money however they want but for me I want the quality they were built on and it will cost more. Back in the day u had to fork it out for the time but I'm not talking RR1, SL1 ect...

Try putting yourself in my shoes and talk King V's they have never been cheap. Those are all I've ever owned from day one. Never had another style guitar and that's what my point is about having to pay for the goods. I thought when I bought my master-built it was insane what they were asking and I laugh now looking back. You can't even buy that guitar these days...It's even worse for rarer models like the KE1, try to even find one fs and that day may never come and that speaks to the point I was making in my first reply.

I'm glad I got all my custom guitars built a decade or more ago.
I was spending 3k every year back then.
Now they are wanting 5k for the same builds.
So it's not just Jackson prices that have gone up.
 
I was shocked when napalm death bought that one not to long ago. It was made in bumfuckistan and it was expensive....I just got my MIJ dk2 off my brother....paid 399 for it, maybe 10 years ago....
 
“Jackson’s Greed.” That’s a really elementary way to view the current economic situation. It’s not the governmental policies that are driving economic situations, it’s the “greed” of companies. The greed that requires they pay for labor, materials, overhead, etc., in relation to the cost of those things. What’s driving the cost of those prices? Why, its due to “greed” of course. Not low supply and high demand. I was once ignorant of how governance affects economic issues as well.

Everything costs as much as it does right now because of two primary things: 1. government printing more money in the last two years than all previous years combined and pumping that paper money into the economy via stimulus, and 2. low employment (low GDP) due to lockdownerism. There’s too much money chasing too few goods. Affects the price of everything.

Covid lockdown is the cause of everything we are dealing with. Entire planet shuts down for a year. Then, after the present supplies of lumber/drywall etc. dry up, nothing to build new homes with. Same with cars. No new chips; no new vehicles. So the 2 most expensive items that Americans buy, homes and cars, become scarce. Prices go up for new and used. Then? Piling on effect. Everyone raises prices on everything because they can. Only way to stop it is to freeze prices across the board but that only happens in a communist/socialist country. So, in a free market/capitalist society we’re fucked.
As far as people getting free money and not working? You show me where I can take 5K (stimulus money) and retire. The unemployment bonus days have been gone for over a year. So no one is staying home eating Bon bons on their stimulus money or collecting 800 a week anymore. That’s been long gone.

You make my exact point for me. Extended lockdownerism and lack of supply is the cause of all this. Add printing money and pushing it into the economy exasperates the problem. Everyone raises prices because THEY HAVE TOO IN ORDER TO ATTEMPT TO STAY IN BUSINESS not because they’re greedy. This is basic economics.

I like you, and I’m fully aware or your political leanings. With all due respect, I think you’re viewing this economic situation through what seems to be a pretty left bias. With all due respect, I think you’re misguided on the causes of this situation, but I’m not going back and forth with on it. Have a good one!

We’ll agree to disagree…items that were not in short supply, those companies didn’t need to raise prices. They did because they could. And, I’m mostly a Libertarian these days. But until the right stops pushing National Enquirer type shit, I won’t be voting for them.

Jackson has been messed up for years. Fender has not given them adequate resources to actually make guitars in the US and somehow they are able to sell everything they actually can make at insane prices.

I begged for years for a 7-string Charvel or Jackson San Dimas and would have paid whatever they wanted, which at the time would likely have been over $5k for a barebones build (likely higher now). But they said NO. Repeatedly.

They said they didn't have capacity for an order like that. WTF?

I feel you. I’m becoming more libertarian these days myself. Only 10 years ago, I’d be considered a Classical Liberal.

I agree that capitalism has its flaws, especially croney capitalism, which can be easily seen in the Chi-Com economy, for example. I just think in our particular case (inflation), it isn’t because of capitalism, per say, it’s that our government (Dems and republicans) has exasperated the problem (and Covid was a problem that we did have to address, but it was far too long and too extreme, IMHO).

It seems these days that the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is about 9 months. Interesting these days how many things that were deemed conspiracy theories not too long ago that have now been verified to be true. (cough…certain laptop…belonging to certain person…cough cough, for just one example. But I digress. Haha!)

You and I agree wholeheartedly on tone, though, which may be the most important thing. We both agree that a good Marshall Super Lead and some boosts can conquer the world. Haha! ?
