Jackson Lord of Hatred Kelly

Good, then you can post about PRS in that thread! :hys:

Unless Paul is secretly designing a pointy single humbucker star shape coming out this summer, I don't even remotely see how it's relevant
I tried to offer some talking points on chinese guitars but you veered off course over the satanic graphic remarks and went on a "grandpa guitar" rant, nevermind all pointy guitars are grandpa axes now.

The chinese guitar thing is totally relevant, but PRS is not even close to a competitor/option for someone looking for a pointy single hum star shape metal guitar

It's just derailing the thread into something completely and utterly unrelated that you want to talk about

You derailed first, I just helped move the locomotive further off the tracks.

Now, if you posed the question

"If Paul can do the S2's for a reasonable price, MIA, why can't companies like Jackson do a reasonable MIA line anymore?"

Which is 100% a relevant question because they haven't for years

Basically Fender thinks Jackson customers only want a Soloist/Dinky or a Rhoads (both with Floyd, of course, because everyone who gigs has techs and roadies!) and that's the only spec option you can get for literally fucking anything that isn't an import shitpile

They could, but unlike PRS who is run by one man making all the big decisions, they are run by non guitarist morons in a board room.

How do you feel about fully blocked Floyds? Might be worth considering if you find a Kelly that's otherwise perfect

It feels like shit, and I would do it if I got a used one for a screaming deal and I would complain and deal with it

But there is no way in fucking hell I am spending two or three thousand dollars on a brand new guitar that has a bridge I don't want, that's going to make tuning and changing strings a gigantic pain in the ass, and basically relegate it to not getting any use at gigs because I can't chance it

It's infuriating because I shouldnt have to consider that as an option

Yep, unfortunately you are 100% correct. All of these companies are run by faceless mobs of shithead ivy-league dipshits who know nothing about music, guitar, or business in general.

Yeah if either of them made a guitar that looked like that, sure, but PRS doesn't make anything with those specs and body shape - or even close

If i wanted a grandpa guitar i'd make posts about a grandpa guitar :hys:

Apparently they did make hardtail Loomis Kellys but seemingly discontinued them immediately?

Apparently? I was gonna get one as soon as i found out about them, but they were already discontinued and now incredibly difficult to find (of course)

And THAT was 1500 for a Korean guitar IIRC

I like the Rhoads, but ergonomically, the Warrior is much more comfortable to play sitting down, offering horizontal and classical / prog positions.

The Warrior is like a forgotten stepchild at Jackson; like Jaguars are at Fender.

The X-series are made in Indonesia, and have all the features I want. I have two Warriors, and three Rhoads, with the cheap FR special - which I've had zero issues with. If they did either with the shattered mirror like the Kelly I posted, with black sides, back, painted neck, neck-thru, reverse headstock and Duncan blackouts, I'd buy one!

I've resigned to accept that imports can cost up to 1500 these days.
I kinda want a Kelly but settled for a Ziphos.

I thought about the Xiphos; it has DiMarzio D Activators set (passive) and dark ebony fretboard which I like; but their 2x the price of the X-series Warriors made in Indonesia. I used India ink to dye the fretboards, and may upgrade the pickups at some point.

Except the jaguar deserves to be a forgotten step child. :poke:

Both the warrior and the jaguar are great. It's always annoying how guitar companies ignore their tertiary models.

I hate that offsets are hipster guitars now, but jaguars (especially vintage style) sound great and are capable of great tones.

Warriors are super balanced and if they didn't always have a fucking floyd I would be all about it.

I'm happy with my two aliexpress Chinese Chibanez guitars; IIRC they were about $300 (edit: each) shipped; and arrived in good condition. I upgraded the pickups and controls on one, it's great for the money, considering Ibanez doesn't make a PS10 in white; and what the PS1CM/PS2CM.

The more a guitar costs, the higher my expectations for it vs where it's made.

:bleh::bleh::bleh:

My friend Jose had a newer Harmony Silhouette offset that smoked any jaguar I ever laid hands on. Jaguar pickups are just a shit design.

Nope, they sound great for punk and jangly distortion sounds. They cut through really well with fuzzy overdrive and fuzzes, esp the bridge

Matt Skiba has probably sold a million Orange amps with his italian jaguar copies

Johnny Marr influenced millions with his jaguar and JC120 clean toan

Neither is my sound at all but tons of people make them sound amazing and I can appreciate the level of influence both have made on guitar

It was Leo's flagship model that he was most proud of. Most players rejected it because jangly distortion with lots of microphonic feedback wasn't particularly popular for lead guitar in the '60's unless you had a surf band. I had an original '65 in lake placid blue. It was terrible but the sheer amount of switches, dials, knobs, and chrome control surfaces was enough to hook me on electric for life, so it had that going for it.
