I'll be honest, I love the songs I've heard from RDC but I'm not the biggest fan of the tones. It is ok but there is this "clanky" sound in there that reminds me of the one sound in a lot of Stratocasters that I can't stand. I can't even put my finger on it and have tried describing it to other people

you aren't talking more about his pick attack are you? It has always been quite evident but is way more there on the new record

The guy still has some of the best modern rock-metal tones in nowadays scene. Raw, aggro, without gazillions of gain.

When he kicks on the wah (apparently an Arteffect Bonnie Wah) at 3:36 in the Havana song :
is that a Wah AND a fuzz pedal at the same time ? The tone is much gainier in this section. It sounds wild. What a growl !

My band opened for Jake E Lee Friday night. He played through the Friedman on the very top of the rack. Not sure if the main one went down or what, but I got a shot of the rig, and his settings haha. It was a blast watching them live.

Thanks for the pics!
You didn't get a shot of his pedalboard by any chance too?

Interesting that there is a what seems an always on Delay in the loop and to see that Peavey in the other rack with another mic'ed cab. Or are those yours on the right?

He uses both the Smallbox and the Smallbox 100 I made him. Just depends on what venue and how big it is. I’m going to see him on Friday in Detroit.. maybe I can do a rig walk thru.. would be a Low fi one but I could do it.

Look forward to it.. you did the only one for the 2019 Slash tour kudos... maybe premier guitar will get on the ball when they play the Ryman

The Peavey and other cab are mine. I tried to get a shot of the pedalboard, but it was taken off the stage after sound check. He was having an issue with it or something needed adjustment so they took it back to work on it.

The red head In the rack is a RJS 68/100 slightly modified. Not quite a exact 68 clone, but pretty close. Jake also used this amp on the latest RDC record.

Here's a sound check video of Jake using a RJS 76/100X. 2203 based with an extra gain stage. It's sitting on top of the red 4x12.

I saw him Saturday night here in Houston.. his tone was great man.. wow I was impressed

Tracii Guns amp is my modified version of Frank Levi's #34. 2203 based circuit, pre phase master, FX loop, and line out. The amp Jake is playing through in the video is still 2203 based circuit, pre phase master, FX loop and line out, but 4 pre amp tubes instead of 3. Much more pre amp distortion, yet very similar in sound.

Saw Red Dragon Cartel last night in Sellersville. Amazing!!!!!! Jake used the red Friedman all night and it sounded amazing. I’ve got a friend in the band, so I may be biased but the Patina songs live sound amazing!!! Jake’s tone is killer. I was excited to see/hear them from seeing all the live videos on here and I was blown away by how great they sounded. Going to see them again in Teaneck, and planning on getting some video that I’ll gladly share if anyone is interested.

He was playing the Smallbox 100 in Houston. It sounded killer.

Sounds pretty damn mean

Great show in NYC last night. Jake did not disappoint.
Last time I saw Jake play was at L'amours in Bklyn with Badlands in 89 or 90.

Just saw there is a new Rig Rundown with Jake.

funny how a guy endorsed by Charvel, owned by Fender, avoids saying the word EVH, owned by Fender...

EVH is not owned by Fender. Fender have the licence for them ... but yeah weird he was reluctant to mention the amp and stalled in naming the cabs   .... all I can think is maybe he has copped a bit of heat from EVH themselves given they pretty much gave him amps
