That live picked sequence by Ed at the very beginning of this vid is some of the most furious, vicious, accurate picking ever recorded. Totally different vibe, but similar delivery as Yngwie on the Steeler album.

So good!

I love what he's saying. I like Mics on Drums, Mics in the Room.
I HATE the new Robot, super compressed, triggered Drum Machine sounding productions of today.
It sounds like Velveeta. It sounds like shit. It's WAY to processed and finger fucked on the Computer..
Give me John Bonham with Mics on his Kit in the Room and leave it the fuck alone.
Record a performance..

So in all of his brown sound clips he was not only direct micing the amp cabinet he was also getting the ambient signals from the open mics on his drum kit setup? In all of his videos he never said that...I was led to believe he was single micing the one 4x12 cabinet.

I thought he had the 4x12 cabinet in some kind of an iso booth closet or something but to take advantage of the drums mics he must have the 4x12 cabinet live in the room with him. Interesting bit of information............................:yes:

At one point, he shows that he was using the shower stall lined with moving blankets in that building as an ISO booth for the 4x12 cabinet.

He had a condenser microphone way up near the ceiling of that bathroom.

The below 1978 solo at the Hammersmith Odeon in London has a good example of that picking sequence.
