He blew some of his hard earned money paying off the victim's families. Fact. Now why why why would he do that if he was completely innocent? I certainly wouldn't pay a cent to anyone if I had nothing to hide. Just because he wasn't found guilty in court does not mean jack shit.

Just keep on wallowing in your ignorance and being a tool of society.

Corporations and individuals blow money every day to shut up people that are doing nothing more than extorting money from them. They end up with a lot less dirt on them, despite the fact that they did no wrong, and it ends up being less expensive in the end.

This is simple stuff man, you really don't understand how this works?

Just keep on wallowing in your ignorance and being a tool of society.
Ummm... you really think with all the evidence that there was in court, that was the reason he paid them? LOL. Amazing. Where there is smoke there is almost always fire. He admitted to having boys sleep in his bed. Take it from there. there was real evidence in court that he was indeed a child molester...

Google it. There is plenty of material. Sure the asshole parents who put their kid in that situation were extorting money from MJ. That's besides the point.

Simbasa, dude, seriously are you THAT ignorant?

20MM to a guy that's worth BILLIONS of dollars is like you paying 100 bucks to settle something.

The attorney's fees you can be 100% sure could have summed up WAAAAAY more than 20 MM plus the mental stress, plus all the other shit that being in court drags.

OJ wasn't convicted of murder so let's stop putting all our faith in the American justice system. And MJ is leaving behind 400 million in debt. He kept borrowing money and failed to pay anything back because he spent more than he made.

I believe he's worth a billion, so net worth is 600.

I've been reading on different sites his net worth at time of his death was around $200 million. Once he was worth 2.3 billion, but he's made several poor financial decisions over the years.

Chances are, if he lived another 15 years he may have been flat broke.

Seriously we need this thread closed or something. I for one believe in the "innocent till proven guilty" logic but its so hard for most people to do that. Everyone is so quick to judge based off accusation before they even hear the other side of the story, so they always flock to the "victims" side. So MJ was accused of molesting kids, he went through a trial and decided to settle for 20 million instead of try and prove his innocence by spending at least a 100 million or so, it makes more sense to pay and get the emotional rollercoaster of a trial over with and try to get on with his life. Even if all said and done you know that most of the ignorant fucks would still sit there and say that hes a pedophile or child molester. Think about it guys, most celebrities pay off the accuser because unfortunately thats how our culture is, once accused your pretty much fucked. They pay because they can afford it and the longer it goes on it hurts their status more and more even if they are innocent. Its just a shame that a guy that was a huge inspiration to many had these things happen in his life which none of us can prove either way, has to be treated like this. I persoanlly dont believe he molested those kids but thats my opinion.

As for the video, i know its the "cool" thing to do on here is bash John Mayer but fuck it gets a little rediculous people trying to pick apart everything he does, but goddamn give it a rest.

I don't know the validity of what's on the web, but I'm finding between $250-$350 million net worth. That's quite a ways from broke. Considering the fact that he's dead, I'd say he left a good amount of money to his heirs and charities, not to mention the the coin that's going to come from all of the unreleased music, unreleased video, already released music, etc.

Wish I had just a couple million.

I noticed that Mayers fingernails are not a consistent length. I mean, how can you play guitar like that?

That was good. I can appreciate JM and what he does. I don't listen to him much, but he's a good guitarist.

He's a funny fucker too.

+1 People always wanna see the negative.

It's not a secret that he had boys sleeping in his bed - he openly admitted it - and whilst that is weird to the rest of us, to a guy who had no childhood is it really that weird? Wasn't he psychologically assessed and found to have the mind of a regressed ten year old? I kinda struggle to believe a regressed ten year old was a sexual predator.

Didn't Gavin Arvizo's parents accuse someone else of molesting their kid before the Jackson thing blew up too?

+1 for both posts.

As for Mayer, his tone was Quite good, if you can't hear that then you're way too stuck in the "high-gain" territory or just don't like it, which is FINE...just don't say he doesn't have good tone just because that's not the style you go for. For the style, the tone is superior and his playing is tasteful. Not over the top or anything, but it fit the context and it was probably a GOOD THING that he wasn't tapping out minor9 arpeggios a'la George Lynch. That was an extreme example, but it doesn't have to be TECHNICALLY hard for it to be musical...right???

Tell me someone at least agrees with me!

Sorry for the rant, I just get offended by posts that people make who only seem to be impressed by more "virtuosic" playing. I'm probably wrong since I don't know most of you guys, but it definitely comes off wrong with all this Mayer hate. He's awesome. Just admit it. Maybe not your thing or whatever, but he's a good player. Notice I didn't say AMAZING player, but he's definitely not bad in the LEAST BIT!!! C'mon people.

Here's what I heard...he played really strong in the intro, tone was great for that, once it got to the single note stuff tone was happening still, and the playing was nicely Beck inspired, but I couldn't help wondering how awesome this woulda been with Beck doing it.

Yeah I definitely agree man, it would've been better if Beck was doing it...that guy has got an ear for some mind-blowing stuff.

I liked the performance and thought it was tasty and classy. I don't get all the Mayer hate here. He's a talented musician who gets lots of tail and you don't..get over it. :D

Why does everyone have to inject some fucking political agenda in MJ threads? The point of me posting was to share the musical performance so we could discuss the playing and tone not to debate whether the guy was an asshole or not. I thought this was a guitar forum, not CNN.

It feels like I'm on HC again... oh, the nostalgia!
