Are there better players than JM? Sure. Does that make him a terrible player? Nope.

Is JM in person a douche? Same here who have met him say yes and I have no reason to doubt them.... are there bigger douches? I'm sure.

I don't get the point of these John Mayer threads really. You know 95% of the guys here are not fans of him yet we see John Mayer threads at least once a week. My question is why not hang out on a John Mayer forum where you worship your hero among his other fans.

I agree with Joeytpg, granted I mostly read and don't post much, but I think it's one thing to disagree with a post, it's another to discourage posting.

That said, Mayer is a tremendously talented guy. He's got excellent technical vocal skills,a s well as top notch guitar skill. I think where I get bored with him is in his lack of feeling when he performs. He does everything well, but it has no meaning, unlike when you watch Band of Gypsies at the Fillmore, all feeling, which is why Hendrix is so revered.

He's a total SRV wannabe, who was a Jimi wannabe. But I do think it comes as a surprise to see a pop star playing guitar at his level. He's no innovator, but he's better than all the guys I see posting clips of their boutique amps with a disclaimer "I apologize for my playing, it's 3 a.m. and I drank 10 beers" Great! Practice like Mayer did, and you won't have to apologize.

John's vocals are the weakest link honestly. I admit it. somehow it works for his writing. What I like about his vocals is a cool ability to stay in tune pretty well while constantly changing the melodies of the vocals (he never stays true to the original song)....all this while playing some fairly complex chords and progressions.

I have the option to also express my opinion and that is what I am doing here . I just find John Mayer's voice to be completely dreadful and his guitar playing does nothing for me whatsoever , but hey if his music moves you and you enjoy it then enjoy it

Being in a John Mayer concert with all those women surrounding you ... maybe that's the real reason you like him

LOL!!!! First off Joey,Love ya bro but now youre starting to be more than a tad dramatic. Secondly, Todd, what are you talking about? How can you even compare people disliking Mayer with Cameron? ( I assume thats who you are talking about when you say Amp Modder)

When Cameron was calling the shots and people were getting burned, I remember the guy taking a crapload of heat for it and deservedly so. Now that Brad is calling the shots , no ones been burned . Cameron was always a talented modder/builder but he just wasnt capable of running a business. Sure there were people who supported him through the bad times but when all the BS came out, there were plenty of people who gave him shit for what he did to others..

Im sure that you and anyone who has a problem with Cameron or his amps is more than welcomed to voice your dislike there as well
