Perhaps, I couldn't say. I just know he makes a nice living doing what he enjoys and what he does speaks to enough people to make him very well off. As soon as everyone finds the right amp and pedals, I'm sure it will happen for them too.

I'm not saying Mark Cameron isn't a good guitar player but being able to play fast blues licks and shred doesn't really make a "very good" player to me. And this is where it becomes clear it's a taste thing. One thing though, I do think you seriously underestimate how hard some of Mayer's stuff is to play - particularly his acoustic stuff - not that it even particularly matters.

And Joey, I too don't get these threads. It's cool man, free society, free forum and all that but you know these guys aren't really fans. It seems a bit pointless and inflammatory.

Your case is flawed, as I don't know a single Mayer song. I've always been amazed at how quickly people around here will knock people's success in music, particularly guitar since we all love guitar. I think that we're on the same page as I said that Todd, being an asshole is irrelevant. Before Brad took over and brought some security to anyone interested in Marks work, I think its safe to say that most Cameron threads had fair representation from the dissentors.. Of course, you had people who just didnt like his amps, just like any other product.

I still fail to see how that has anything to do with People disliking John Mayer unless you think the real reason people dont like him is because as a person , hes a douche.

Some people obviously don't like him for a run in I guess some have had here with him being a douche and we have people not liking him because they think he's not that great of guitar player but talks like he is. There is also probably a mix of both reasons.

I'm not a fan and I don't have any of his CD's but my wife has downloaded some of his music and I caught part of a concert on Palladia a good while back where he played several styles of his music so I am familiar with what he is capable of. While not my cup of tea I would by no means say he is a hack or a terrible player. I've been playing way too long to know what good playing and bad playing is. A players style not being what blows my skirt up but that by NO MEANS equals him being a terrible player.
