John Mayer show in Houston

He put on a great show tonight. This was my second time seeing one of his shows. My wife turned me on to his music about 5 years ago. His tone was amazing. He had his same rig that he's been using for awhile and it sounded great. Robby McIntosh his other lead guitar player was fantastic and his tone was awesome too. It was a great set. I guess he hurt his back earlier in the day but still put on a great show. Gassing for a strat now to let my inner bluesy side out.

I do not hate him, he should just never try to play Panama again. I watched numerous videos of him playing it because I was trying to give him a break and think maybe he just played it bad just once, Nahh... He cannot play that song at all... The whole band pretty much sucked at it.

I have seen some footage of him playing really good too! But not playing VH songs.

I can't stand JM on a personal level. As a guitarist, he's OK for a commercial pop player.

Neither does his weak blues and vibrato or airy voice.

Like Alien said, he's a pop musician and good at writing crap that sells. His tone, i don't see the big deal either. It sounds like a Strat plugged into a Twin, not that hard to duplicate really.

But funny thing with me is, Mayer could be the greatest guitar player ever and i still wouldn't listen to him because i can't stand his voice, and i don't like his songs.
