sounded thick and ranchy.
Doesn't sound like a truck load of gain.

Sounds great.

Do you have a pic of what you did?

I spoke to Mike F about it and he told me since I have a PPIV master already in the amp, I could just wire the diodes across the board and use the PPIV master for volume. If I didnt have the PPIV master, then I would need the pot...unless I play my amp at stupid volumes

Pay no attention to the sloppy soldering... ;)
I'll clean it up once I'm set on the values and how I'm going to do everything.

Hmm... Interesting. Wonder how it sounds with the Rich Mod!?

It's fun to play... I still have to dial it in.

Sounds good! I wish I had the knowledge to do that kind of stuff!!

Sounds about like my '77 2203 hit with my MIJ SD-1. Very cool.

nice tone!!so whats your opinion of it?how did it change your sound?

LOL! :D
Yeah... me too... I just solder by pictures man.

So you have to move the resistor off on its own, then hook up the wires to that? I believe Mike told me I could just put the diodes (no pot or resistors) across the cathode?

Yeah. According to the picture of the circuit, the resistor on the turret board has to be moved and joined to the yellow wire off of V2. Are you thinking of putting it on your SL or your 2203?

Thanks man... :)

Well I can definitely tell you its NOT for everyone. Without a boost, don't really like it that much. I think the diodes make the amp a bit thin-sounding because that amp is freaking thick! With a TS, or an SD-1 it's an 80's wet dream. I'm probably going to spend weeks tweaking it to get it to where I like. I think putting this in a 2203 would be ideal.

So does it kind of act like a gain control also, or like a real master volume with a set amount of gain?

Still need some tweaking here... but here's something.

The SL is being hit with my MIJ SD-1.

Nice! Just a tiny bit more sizzle please ;) :D

It's like a real master volume with a set amount of gain. There are things I like about it, there are things I don't like about it. One thing I like is that it sounds very consistent throughout the sweep of the pot. But I still have work to do with tweaking it and stuff.
