Just got this double DVD and gotta say Arnel Pineda can definitely sing his ass off!! He does seem out of place at times though with his running around, jumping and awkwardness.

To me the band's energy and playing is not as strong as usual. They added parts or rearranged the song structures on several of them, that to me took away from the songs more than adding anything better.

Can Neal play a solo anymore without a sustainer?

Also surprising is that Deen (drummer) sings his ass off as well on a couple of songs. But there are times when I wonder if it's an overdub? Aside from that, his drumming is stellar.

Any way, it's a very good DVD. Check it out. For $10 at Walmart, you can't go wrong.

My review from another thread:

So I picked up the new Journey Live in Manila 2 Disc DVD from Wal-Mart, sounds and looks great. Unfortunately, I can't stand watching Arnel Pineda very long with this band. He does have a great voice and I really dig the new tunes on Revelation but his hopping around with eyes bugging out of his head gets annoying after awhile, watching him kind of reminds me of an old Bruce Lee film.

Enter the Dragon?

I will be buying this DVD as well. I don't have a problem with Arnel Pineda. I think he is a great addition
to this aging band. He sings well, has alot of energy and gets the job done for the band.

I am happy for the man because he is a living proof that a "rockstar" dream is achievable. As a fellow
musician, I can only be rooting for this guy.

Glad to see Journey rocking again.

That's great, I'm glad he's living his dream. He still doesn't fit in with Journey though.
Really Joey? I think that hes a great fit. I cant say that I like him as much as Steve Augeiri when his voice was on but I still think that he does as good a job as any

Arnel rules.....I think more older bands should go find a new younger singer in the land of the rising sun!  I mean, I saw Def leppard about a month ago and Elliot is hurt! I told my wife they should do what Journey did and dump him for a younger guy who can nail those high notes, cuz he cannot! Not even close.

Oh.....Is this a Wal Mart Exclusive release? If so I am shit outta luck.

Love Jeff Scott Soto but did not like him within the context of Journey. Soul Sirkus yes, Journey no.

I think Arnel does a great job, but the whole thing has too much of an "American Idol" vibe going on that keeps me from taking it too seriously. Still, it's a great DVD.

Will they ever reconcile with Steve Perry? Cash in like Van Halen/DLR? I hope so.

I would bet Perry can't even sing those songs anymore....just a guess.

Is it safe to say that he's got substance but doesn't have the image so he doesn't fit? He sings well, Neal Schon
and the rest of the guys like him. Journey is having a great comeback and I'm loving it.

Or maybe becuse he's Filipino and not caucasian that's why he doesn't fit? Neal Schon continues to inspire me to this day.

Think about where Arnel comes from... He most definitely wasn`t born with a silver spoon. Now being center stage with one of his favorite bands in his own country. I can easily understand that he was enthusiastic, I`d be too :)

neither did Jeff Scott Soto for that matter.

See, I liked it when after all these years Journey went with a male vocalist. Didn't last long though. :D

When I saw them with JSS a couple years ago, I kept waiting to hear "I Am A Viking".

Probably not. His last effort with Journey was pretty rough.

You would be guessing correctly.

Arnel is awwright I guess, but it was strange to hear him sing about
doing stuff "in the back seat of a Chevrolet"

Wow......  I think Jonathan Cain would have finished going through menopause before "I Am A Viking" even ended.
