Yes, which makes it even more sad that Petrucci has used Mesa on more albums in the 2000's alone than Hetfield has in his entire career... :D

I don't think anybody is questioning JP's loyalty to Mesa. He is clearly deserving of his own signature amp. Just because another artist may not be as loyal does not mean that they are any less deserving. Both artist bring different things to the table. I think James has brought plenty to the table for Mesa. Just because he may use something different shouldn't matter. James has toured the world for decades using Mesa gear. The guy uses a diezel and an axe fx too. How dare he.

Hetfield is the reason I even tried a Mesa in the first place, and the reason I wanted a IIC+ back in the day. I still identify with him more than I ever will Petrucci. Again, just saying Mesa needs to broaden their reasoning for giving a signature amp if James gets one. I have no doubt a "Crunchberries" amp would sell.

I never heard dream theater until around 2006. Don't listen to much mainstream radio. When I heard them the first time it was

"Pull me under" I really liked it. But It never stuck to me the way Metallica did and still does. I would still want to check out the new jpc amp. Not for Petrucci but just for myself. Rather his name not be on it at all but that won't stop me from getting one.

+1 on all counts for me. I still listen to the old Metallica albums much more than I do Dream Theater. I'd rather his name not be attached and this be a "V+" of sorts, but at the same time, we probably wouldn't have it with him...so, here we are. You can always just take the JP nameplate off...

To me Metallica had a huge impact and alot to do with Mesa Boogies success in their early years and on. I'd guess even Petrucci got into playing Mesa's and the IIC+'s he personally owns due to Hetfield and Metallica.

Oh yeah, Petrucci has cited "Master of Puppets" as a major influence quite a few times.

What in the world would make anyone think that MESA/Boogie would not offer a simul-class (their BIGGEST patented idea) amp after the success of the Mark V and V25? Randall Smith is a great businessman, much smarter than most amp makers and knows what he's doing. Mark my words, expect the JH2C.

Metallica hasn't had a guitar tone that's worth a fuck in 25 years. They're a little late to the party...

The Mark V is a regular production continuation of the Mark lineage, which has been Simul-Class. That's a lot different than a signature model where the specifications are to the preference of an artist. Would a "Mark VI" be Simul? Sure, but signature models are artist specific.

I wouldn't call Simul Mesa's biggest patented idea when they've held patents for things that are just assumed in modern amps like channel switching and presence controls.

Mesa is good at business.... Look they released this amp about the time when many are getting tax money back. I'm into the JP2C for it's sounds. I could careless who's name is on it. Too be honest I believe James would be into this amp too. Master of Puppets sounded great on it. The clean channel is probably about as close to a Roland as you are going to get from Mesa.... In that it stays extremely clean. Not that it is voiced like a Roland. As for the Simulclass... This power amp has the extra aggression of pentode and fast attack of the Class AB. I like both styles.... Can't go wrong with either.

One thing that is pretty clear is that if a Hetfield amp is in the works, MESA would sell more amps in total by releasing the Petrucci amp first. Because really, who is going to buy a pretucci 2c+ after Hetfield's is out? Hell, maybe Petrucci wanted to make his version simulclass and MESA said, no that's reserved for James'.

Good point. But your last one, not so sure...pretty well known that Petrucci likes the HRG (100/60) best, and has tried them/owned them all.
