Judas Priest Panic Attack : what heads are this tone

Richie's been playing Wizards for awhile, (atleast prior to this album). Before that I believe he used Powerball II's. Glenn was using Engls too before he hung it up.

But, with Sneap doing their last few recordings, it's hard to say..

The prepackaged production of modern metal isn't something for me. This doesn't sound like an amp

At least live on this tour it was Wizard MCII for Ritchie and Gower modded Marshalls for Andy. Sounded much rawer live.

My first thought was Kemper as well.

I know Andy has been a kemper guy forever, I can't tell from the clip but it has the soft, pillowy thing that the kemper tends to add to profiles - sounds great either way though

but it has the soft, pillowy thing
Yep, this overcompressed chewiness, that lacks the immediate rawness.
Could be (a Sneap) recording technique and could very well be a TS9 into a 5150, but either way, while it sounds pretty good, there are better recorded tones out there. The lead sounds really good tho'.

I think I hear what you are describing with the Kemper.....The dynamics, depth and speaker punch seems to be less evident with live playing compared to a real amp. the palm mutes don't smack you in the chest.

Here's Wolf Hoffman playing his Kemper from 2024.

Yep that's the exact attack thing I was talking about. Still a great tone for both of em :dunno:

Having used a Kemper for a long time I can pick out that tone really easily and reliably, though I'm not 100% sure or anything, that would be my guess - that Andy and Ritchie are using kempers too (probably profiles of their gowers or engls or wizards or whatever)

So they usedJMPS . Nice ! I wonder if modded
Last I heard Sneap has been using modded gower marshalls (See video) I should msg dan and see if he can elaborate. I have two one randy rhoads he did for me which was kinda a cali style custom mod, My other is a josh middleton mod on my zw2203 which is my fav marshall its dry a #UCK Gowers stuff will def get you there. He has some of the best mods around that kind of keep that marshall thang but go above and beyond. It stops before it doesn't sound like a marshall anymore if that makes sense. Take it for grain of salt just my 2 cents.
Btw sneap is an amazing mixer and the stuff he does is just insane. His control, Movement, Tones, Dynamics is really second to none in that type of style plays a big roll.
