... and WOW! He is just so good it hurts. I think he may just be the best guitarist around (in my opinion, of course. I am not trying to engage that age-old, and pointless argument).

It just drips with that beautiful warm tone he has. I am convinced that if I buy his entire setup, I will sound just like him... because it has nothing to do with how good a player he is, does it ;) ?
No, in all seriousness, I really want to get a LoneStar head or the 2x12 combo (it would be even more ace to have to money to slave a Stilleto). Has anyone had any experience with these?
I know it will never sound like Andy's tone, but it must be somewhat representative.

Anyone else like that album? Or recommend any of his other material?

Merry foogin X-Mas!

In fact, I am gonna stick my neck out and say that he has THE best tone... in the world. Period.

I don't know about the Revelations thing but I sure do like his Resolution CD.

Thats the one! Dont know where I got Revelations from...

Yes sir, Andy's tone slays! I tried the Lonestar when I was on a big Timmons kick and I was very disappointed. I sounded like balls through that combo! Could have been that I didn't take the time to tweak the settings at GC, but it sounded muffled to me.

I tried the Electra Dyne during the same visit and was blown away! But if I ever sink money into a good combo it will be a Savage. Those things sound friggin amazing!

He's an incredible player and his tone is so clean but he can make nasty!! Great CD!!

AT is sick. Very musical player, even when shredding. His tone is amazing.

PS: On a related tone note, I just ABY'd my Lone Star Classic (Rocktron Chameleon 2000 in the loop for effects) with a borrowed ElectroDyne (medium gain/dry) and the tone was beyond incredible. I mean out-of-this-world awesome with only a Keely comp punching the front a bit to add sustain. (not even needed at stage volumes)

I'm a huge Andy Timmons fan and listened to the Resolution CD and nothing else for almost 3 months...I just couldn't get enough. I ended up buying a Lonestar head that I originally hated...turned out to have bad preamp tubes on arrival. I swapped out the preamp tubes and the amp sound WAY better...close but no cigar. I bought a MajikBox OD/Boost pedal and use it with the Lonestar...I love that tone combination! :D This is a keeper!

I've been listening to the Steffen Schackinger CD a lot lately and I'm REALLY dig'n his playing and tones. Steffen's tone is a bit clearer too me than Andy Timmon's tone and cuts more. Anyway, if you like Andy's playing and tone on Resolution, you might dig Steffen's CD as well.

FYI, the Resolution tone is pretty simple, he's running an old Butler Tube Driver and a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo into an old Plexi and an old JMP set loud and clean going into V30's.

That's true, however, Andy is getting very close to the same tones with his MESA rig. I've got the Resolution DVD as well. He uses the MESA rig on that DVD and his tone is very similiar to the Resoluton CD.

I'll second that. Steffen Schackinger is simply jaw-droppingly good. His album is excellent and watching him play stuff on YouTube is demoralizing. The thing I like about Steffen is he's not just yet-another-shredder. He writes musical music (I know that sounds retarded) but it makes all the difference in my opinion.

My favourite instrumental guitar album by a mile. His playing is just so soulful, so tasteful, incredible phrasing, awesome tone. Timmons just kills it.

The album is indeed all Tube Driver into old Marshalls ran loud and clean other than one or two tracks which used some of the Marshall gain (Lydia is one of those I believe) but he totally nails those tones with his Mesa rig. He has tone just dripping from his fingers!

We had Andy come in and do a "Boogie Clinic" and I can't think of any guitar god that could be any nicer than Andy and I've met alot of them...Such class act

Yes, Andy rips! I believe that he said that the Stilleto was modeled after one of his old Marshall. Resolution is one of the very few discs that I can listen to over and over again and not get tired of.

A DiMarzio Breed with a medium gain amp will get you very close to that tone.

Yes, and a one in a million talent! :D

Andy makes me cry and wanna sell it all/give up. I hate him :-)

Harry Jacobson does much the same thing..... dammit, how did I not end up with the talent & skills these guys possess? Makes me sick

Someone should tell the guys at Mesa Engineering that its a Marshall being played on their web-site intro tune. :D

Resolution is my favourite Andy's album. It's in my top 5 guitar albums ever
Andy is a monster player, very musical and tasteful. Gorgeous tone, both live and at CD.
I have seen AT live twice and twice was totally amazed :m17:

That's actually a testimony to Mesa. He re-recorded it with the Stiletto and you can't tell the difference. :) That's precisely why he's so happy with his Mesa rig, he can recreate all of the tones on the Resolution album.
