Actually was 2 days ago.

Got it here on shop trial period. 2 gigs today and tomorrow, then I'll decide. But so far I am quite impressed. Even with the shitty JJ6L6 and all JJ12AX7 in the preamp it sounds damn good. Rather tight and punchy. Low noise floor. Transparent loop. I feel if I'd throw in some good EL34s and some good Pres it would get even better as I like that mid grit EL34s give me.

Here's the rundown on the amp:
-4 Channels, Clean, Crunch, Meat and Heat
-3 boosts per channel (Gain-/Mid-/Bright-)
-2 Masters
-2 EQs, one for cleans, one for drives
-Switchable Ser/Par loop with (master) level control
-All can be stored in 99 Midi Presets (Channels, Boosts, Masters, Loops)
-100W from either 6L6 or EL34
-Presence & Resonance Controls
-Included FS for either direct access or 12 midi programs

Did a quickie vid yesterday, will give more feedback after my 2 gigs.

Sooooo I am back from my metal gig, and MAN did it sound great. I was really enjoying myself!!!! I gotta say that normally I am NEVER happy with my sound on gigs. But the Steavens just came alive when I turned it up. Actually the sound guy asked me to turn down so it was running at about 1/5 volume. Still it was damn loud.

What happens when the amp gets louder is that it gets very crunchy but at the same time big sounding. I was surprised that it started to have a little more "give" but still super focussed.

My big test is dropped D tuning playing the 3 bass strings palm muted - what I want there is neither thin brizzle nor bassy woofing, I want tight crunch with a big body, and that's exactly what the Steavens gave me.

I haven't played an amp with so many bells and whistles and at the same time so much tone before.

Really surprised this company is not more known actually, killer product!

sounds pretty marshally already with the 6l6

el34 may be too much of a good thing!

I really like the Poundcake 100 MK1 I have. It's tight, very high gain, but still smooth. Hard to explain, but it's a very unique sounding high gain amp.

Cool amp.

And Bernhard, who owns the company, is really a gentleman.

Really nice!!!

HNAD! Hope it passes the gig test!

Errrm I got my amp 2 years ago and sold it last spring. But it did pass several gig tests very well, just was too freaking loud (or I was too weak).
And SBlue already owned his. So I guess no NAD for anyone. ;)

But it is nice anyways, and thanks for the wishes :D

Yep... no NAD. But you could say it's a GAD, or Good Amp Day!

By the way Hunter, I' got my amp from a great friend from Belgium! We found this amp for him at The Black Market Music in LA, early 1999. He mentioned watching a black metal band in Brussels, and the guitar player was using a Steavens. He said it was an amazing sounding amp and that he was going to buy it. A little later he pretty much gave up playing and offered me the amp. Of course I got it right away.
I'm glad I did!
