Just in time, this week's neo soul submission

Alright @Anonymouse, this is my submission. It wasn't your backing track you listed, but I couldn't translate what I was hearing in my head while listening to it (sweet track selection though) onto my guitar, so I just went with another track. I was having trouble figuring out where to end this one, and didn't want to print out a whole other sheet of tab and notate 2 pages down for 1 little soulful solo, so I just sort of ended it. Also, I love ending on the notes half a step down from the tonic. It creates an interesting tension to my ears. I'm glad the recording through my phone was able to pick up the tapped harmonics I was doing at that one point in the song.

A couple notes may not be perfect, or timing may be a wee bit off here and there from what I'm wanting, but I'm also doing this stuff in 1 take with no ability to go back and punch in a new section to something I screwed up on. Plus I just wanted to get it in, so deal with it.

Nice phrasing man, it's cool sounds composed. Not a backhanded compliment if it is or to your improv, it has phrases that flows well. I only wish it didn't end so soon and abruptly - maybe an effect of the clip ending on the chord before resolving as well.

Oh I compose about every bit of the stuff I've been putting up, except large chunks of the first couple from a few weeks ago. Any time I improvise, it doesn't have much coherency to it and sounds poor in my opinion, so I'd rather sit down and map out ideas I want to use, bits and pieces of a scale to play from, etc.

Since I've been actually notating my stuff down recently on tab paper, I can go back and tweak and add more to stuff. I was getting a bit frustrated with working on it, so that's why I just kind of ended it where I did. Plus, when the backing track just loops the same progression, you sort of just have to give up eventually and stop lol

Cool cool. Isn't there software to make it easier or automate it? Like in the soundslice noodle clips of degenero they seem well written out. But I don't know if the notation was manually encoded or midi? automated then cleaned up, I'm musically illiterate and ignorant with music tech though the rhythmic notation and the tab in those clip helps.

Sounding great Matt. Plus you have the best titles on your videos.

@Anonymouse you gotta name the winner by 7pm central. @Matt300ZXT @Fusionbear @Devin and @Dan Gleesak all had some nice submissions. Forgive me if I missed someone. Who will be crowned this week's winner? Stay tuned!!!
