I bought a LOADED IIC+ from Guitar Center just a few years ago. I saw it online in their used section, I could tell it was a IIC+ from the front panel. Sure enought it was a IIC+ and I got it for $1100. To be honest.....it didn't sound that great. I put it up against a boosted Electra Dyne and the Dyne wiped the floor with it, yes I was surprised. Egh, I sold it for $2700. The guy I sold it to............he just sold it for $4600

It's one of those Hetfield one's with a pull out on the mid knob. So some guy out there thought he bought the Holy Grail IIC+ for $4600!!! :D EGh, there was nothing special about it. I had a 60 watt non-simul that sounded better.
Wow. They do go for crazy prices. I just figured, with the return policy if I didn't like it I'd just return it. I'll keep watching....you do see some great deals on GC.com from time to time....

Yea, Mark V for $1299 two weeks ago. I stopped to think about it for a few minutes and it was gone.

This guy has been trying to sell this C+ for years. I thought I'd buy it but he kept changing the sale date, so after two weeks I looked around and found a 60 watt head (ser. # 13,5xx) with reverb and GEQ for $2000.00. I think the IIB C+ would sound nuts good. I called MESA about it and at first they said there were no IIB C+ Marks, then I gave them the ser. # and they said, "yes, it is a C+ conversion." I'd buy it if I had the cash and didn't worry about selling it, obviously it is not very desirable as it has been for sale for so long. https://www.flickr.com/photos/100168049@N04/16503291309/in/datetaken/

That guy had a different ad up a while ago where he claimed it was a IIC+ the real deal, etc, etc. He list the serial number and I emailed him saying that not a IIC+. Of course he never replied to me but I see he changed his ad.

That's been for sale for a while.

While I do look daily for a lot of different amps, I find it more beneficial to also talk to people whenever possible. I recently bought a mint 2C+ for $2,500 and received two new quads of Sylvania 6L6's (415's) and a bunch of nos Mesa push pull pots, and a Tungsram 12AX7. After making the buy, I chatted up the seller and he told me he had a friend with with a 2C+ and he would probably sell it. Since I just bought one, I got the info and told my friend. My friend bought it for $2,000. The seller (who was the original owner) knew exactly what he had... Except he thought it had the X101 transformer. My friend came over with it this past weekend so I could test all of his tubes and check it out. Turns out it has a 105 transformer, GEQ, no reverb and has 415 6L6's and 416's 6CA7's and original Tungsram preamp tubes. All tubes tested strong or almost new. I think we both scored with some incredible amps. Not every good deal is listed on the web...

My only Mark experience so far was with a purple stripe MKIII. Paid 700, full size loaded head. Came with the Sylvania 6L6s and tunsram pres. Sold it to a fellow forum member. But that was a local find. Those tubes really make a difference...I put some different power/pre tubes in and it sounded average. When I sold it I had the good tubes back in. I think that's part of the fun of getting a vintage amp....those of us that have tube rolled know the difference vintage tubes make..my new to me JCM 800 Bass head came with GE 6550s and tungsram pres. Sounds great. I have a pair of Winged C 6550s, tried those....GEs went back in.

Bumping because I just grabbed a MKIIC for 900....eq/reverb/sc, serial 11660. If its not a + off to Mesa it goes. I paid more for my Mark III....guitar center you are my friend.

I don't have it yet, we are going out of town early next week so gonna wait to ship it to me until we come back. But I think the only reason it wasn't gone is that when I asked for a serial# the kid gave me a 4 digit number. Asked him to send me pics and that number was on the speaker!  So my guess is when people called that's the number they gave. So I got the right serial and called Mesa....no record of it being modded yet. But when I try the loop test we'll find out. Probably still send it to Mesa anyway. This is a fully loaded one too! Definitely stoked..I liked the MKIII I had, looking forward to this one!

From the looks of it, you just made $1000.00 and have an amp you'll likely love more than any other amps you've played. I recently lucked into an original, factory DRG for not much more and it's the very last piece of gear I'd ever think about selling.

A few tips, though. Definitely send it in to Mike ASAP. Mesa has stopped performing various mods/upgrades in the past, and you don't want to have been caught waiting too long. Even if your amp doesn't need the upgrade, get it serviced. You don't want a bad cap taking anything out. Don't get sucked into the NOS tube hype. I can't hear much (if any) of a difference between the 415s that came with the amp and the current 440s. Finally, get that puppy into a headshell. The combos are awful in comparison to a nice 4x12 or 2x12 (though still pretty nice with a thiele attached).

If you play rock/metal, the IIC+ is the best amp ever made. The cleans are world class too. I bet you sell all of your Marshalls in less than 6 months!

Great score. The + mod is $400, then a full service with cap change is another $200-300. Pretty good deal.

Well turns out its a 60w, I had the kid at GC send me pics of the back of the amp. But still a 2c with eq/reverb for 900 is worth it....hopefully the mod has already been done but I'll probably send it out to Mesa anyway.

The work Mesa does when a amp is sent in for rejuvenating is second too none.
And quite affordable imo.
Randall Smith runs one of, if not best amp mfg/repair/restoration shops period and for quite sometime now.
He could be bigger but chooses not too be.

I wouldn't be bummed about the 60w at all. I recently sold a 60w and still have some pangs of regret - it was a great amp that definitely was closer to my DRG than it was different. Simulclass has a slightly different sound to it, no doubt, but you're still getting an absolutely kick-butt amp.

I read somewhere that the non-EQ models tended to not have quite the same sub-low kick as the EQ amps. I agree. In a way, it gives them a more useable bass knob range since they tend to get flabby later. But they just lack that same sub-low kick. Wonder if anyone has ever modded the non-EQs to use the larger cap.

  I don't know man, I really love a good Marshall. But there's room for other great tones as long as its affordable..and this seems to fit the mold. I'm already budgeted for a trip to Mesa for this amp, hopefully it passes the loop test and just needs some servicing. The cab looks mint and the pics of the chassis looks very clean/no aging or patina so it might be in great shape inside. Comes with the Eminence version of the EV12, the MS12. Signed MB under the power cord and has an "I" above it....but I've read where some 2C+ didn't get the full + when sent back in the 80s so we'll see. I have a Jubilee that's not leaving, be cool to own 2 iconic amps at decent used prices. Stoked!
