Just put some WCR caps in my LP

Thought I'd tell you guys how awesome these WCR caps are. I had orange drop caps in there previously. There was a obvious difference vs the WCR's. The orange drops are harsh compared. The WCR's had a smoother high end and much deeper clarity.

I'm big on USA made things and these caps are made here. I dig em!

I need to find someone local who can drop something like this into my Trad Pro. Maybe one of the RS kits.

I am happy the way it is but would like to try something like this out for a frame of reference.

forgive my ignorance, but where are dropping these WCR caps into? the tone difference is better clarity?

I must be getting old. I used to be all about no guitar tone controls but lately I've started utilizing them. Additionally, I like how they subtly filter out high end noise even when they're on 10 compared to no tone pot hooked up at all.

Don't know if you still get down this way, but I know a really good tech in Kettering that could do the work.

I do roll through Cbus every month or so but I would have to have the work done while I wait or between Friday night when I drop it off to Sunday night when I roll back through town. Does your guy do that kind of thing?

I would think so. Don't know for sure, but never hurts to find out!!! Just let me know and I can get you the contact info. It's in the Dayton area though, so not sure if you still make it this far.

I meant to say Dayton not Cbus! I am in Dayton twice a month still.

Shoot his contact info over, thank you. I could use someone like the person I described.

hthomas, can you explain a bit more.

I've always been curious about these. I totally get how different caps sound different. I did an experiment in my amp, switching from Polyprop, to Polyester, and there was a noticeable difference. For sure.

But with guitar tone controls "smoother" and "clearer" seem to be conflicting descriptions. To my ears, "smoother" has less high end. And "clearer" has more high end. I know it's hard to put into words, but if you can describe how these are smoother AND clearer, I'd appreciate it.

What are the extra caps you have on the volume pots?

Hard to put into words. One of things you need to hear. These caps totally smoothed out the high end while retaining the clarity. Nothing drastic.

Anyone that can solder can pretty much do this for you. It's two solder connections, about 10 minutes work... what I mean is it certainly doesn't require tech level skills...
