Karnivore vs V30

Yeah the Carnivores are just better. I also can't unhear that V30 thing, and it does work with some amps that aren't upper mid heavy, but they just dominate over the amp tone and make almost everything with high gain sound the same. Great vid, playing and riffage as usual! Still my favorite that you've written!

Thanks! There's another slower riff in this song that I haven't put out anywhere yet, but it will be in the official release whenever we record it!

Those Karnivores are so smooth, I like it. Nice change up from the v30 bark/honk.

Also, nice playing dude

It was set the same. I actually used 2 SM57s and recorded both at the same time.

V-30’s by herds man.
Killer grindage in your riffing
Gargoyle on the neck..love the melting chords together.. like soldering chords..
The V-30’s have the proper candor for evil chord voicing & stabs.
There’s also a fiber of fatness in the grunt..proper punch in the grunt..when you put the evil sauce out on the table…
Th V-30’s ate that sauce right up bro’…
Steaming silver begins to melt..

The Karnies’’ are cool.. Eminemce Front,,
A little bit like a Governor & a Legend…?

Speaking of Karnivore’s…,
-did you know that human’s taste like sweet lobster??
Just sayin’😜.
Dig the fuckin’ playin’ man, well done👌

How do you compare Karnivore to Redback?? Seems like both have smooth top end and big bottom. Maybe Karnovore is more aggressive?

If you combine RBs and V30s, you kinda get closer to the Karnivore. So I'd say the Karnivore is more aggressive and tighter than the Redbacks. Redbacks low end is slightly bloomy and even smoother than the Karnivore.

I like them both for different reasons, but I think they'd blend together really well. Karnivores for the big low end and V30's for the in your face cut they have.

Mark my words, I bet 50 - 75 % of people ditching their V30s for Karnivores will be back to V30s within a year.
I could see this happening. Personally, I've never liked V30s and always sought alternatives. I've actually only been using them since I got my first Mesa cab, maybe 3 years ago, and my feelings about them haven't changed. They're so ingrained in everything metal that I can definitely see a lot of people being excited about these but then going back after a while.

I think if you're approaching it from a "this vs that" perspective, you're probably dichotomising an issue without considering all the shades of grey between.

My thoughts are they're a new and exciting option to add to the stable, and seem to do well blending with familiar tones and speakers.

I like Redbacks quite a bit, and will likely keep one cab with the V30/RB combo just for that variety, but my other 2 cabs are moving over to Karnivores.
