Mmmmm......Surprised you're enthused by a D-lister doing a demo of this pedal.
A Tube Works real tube can be had for a helluva lot less money. I've never really seen tube drive pedals place themselves on a higher pedestal than any other good drive pedal. I've had the real tube and the mesa v-twin and while they were both pretty nice, neither of them really justified the hassle associated with them to make it go-to gear, at least, for me.
Friedman makes a tube pedal too no?The Tone King Royalist pedal with three 12AX7 tubes sounds and feels great to me. Two of the tubes are used in the preamp section, the third is used as a phase inverter.
Getting great vintage Marshall sounds in a small package, and I haven't even opened the editor to try the other IRs they include for free. Mostly using the 1967 setting with greenbacks and the 1970 setting with the 70s speakers/cab for 70s hard rock tones...haven't tried the JTM-45 (1964) setting yet.

can you bypass the IR in the Royalist?
Thanks!

Didn't know the TKR had 3 Preamps![]()
You just gave me an idea for a postIt also doesn't help that Andy Timmons could plug into a Gorilla amp and still sound great.
I hope it comes with a warranty that covers 25 watts.we got a spec sheet on this ?
Let's hear your Gorilla amp but no boost pedals allowed. You just gave me an idea for a post
Make sure to use the appropriate power..... Unless you have magical electricitywe got a spec sheet on this ?
How much power does it use?Yes...but I haven't tried it. The lower right switch is Bypass to bypass the entire pedal, and an alt mode to bypass the IR only

I figure this Keeley one is more to condition a signal with more tube juice aside from the OD and the TKR is more like a straight up amp in a box......
I was actually thinking of the ma current draw. Looks to be 800ma.... That is a lot for 12 volts. Also figure a CIOKS unit could power one with voltage doubling if I ever wanted to check one out.12V , and it has a step-up transformer so the tubes are at preamp level plate voltages.
I'm always wary of pedals with tubes, there were a few questionable ones, like Vox ToneLab where they used an led to make it look like the tube was glowing hot when it was not even close to the pate voltage it needed. IIRC
