Every profile I ever made ended up with a couple db of added bass. The second clip has a bit more bass.

Hard to say because it sounds like there's some kind of chorusy thing going on there, but because of the low end and harmonics, probably the 2nd is the CCV. What's needed is a raw signal to compare. However, they both do sound very good.

Hmm, there are no effects on at all in either the Kemper or the DAW. The riff was double-tracked and panned hard left/hard right. I can see how that may sometimes give the impression of a chorus effect but I'm not really hearing it.

No clue which is which, but based solely on my oh-so-scientific listening gear I played it through (my phone), I like the first one better on the clip.

Vote for the second clip here.. something about the mids in the first. Things sounded softer/rounded. More body and roughness out of the second. I would bet that is the amp but who knows.

I'm curious. They both sound good and pretty close. They 2nd sounds like it has a bit more edge to it. It's very slight though. I can't even say which I like better. In a mix, I suppose the 2nd might cut through more.

Just did a quick tally of the above votes and it's pretty much dead even. Any other guesses?

Let's just say I would take your bet. :D

So yeah, for those of you playing at home -

the first clip is the Kemper and the second is the real amp.

Interesting how split the votes were. I can hear a slight difference between the two tracks isolated, but in a mix I don't really think anyone would notice.

I'm very shocked with the 2nd clip having more bass....

They sound very close, it would be really difficult to tell in a full mix which is which. I've got a profile of a 74 50w JMP an Ocean Mod and it screams!

So when are you going to share your profile :gethim:

I'm glad I guessed it right... but I am also not surprised. the more i look at modeling of any type, the more I hear two things. The first, is a smoothing of the notes and the second is a lack of dynamics. So when you compare the real amp to the kemper or the cab impulse, you look at the wave form and you see way less peaks and valleys. As such, the performance doesn't pop or punch in the gut as much. In a mix though absolutely, I don't think it matters and that is why it must be a fantastic tool for live players or home studio guys.

I just did a side by side for a friend with an Orange Rockerverb MKII...Through the same cab, none of us could tell which was which....I don't think anyone would ever get this 100% right, there is no real change in dynamics like some think....Especially when playing it....Next time I do an amp (next week) I'll make a video....

Dang I missed the voting! I guessed right that #2 was the CCV... it just sounded a little more alive and organic if you will. But I totally agree, in a mix and even on their own with your average music fan they are close enough that most wouldn't notice the difference.

I would love for the OP to post a taste test with 5 short riffs each done with the Kemper and the real CCV but mix up their order and see if the golden eared among us could go 10 for 10. Heck, on some of the riffs post the Kemper twice and on another one post the CCV twice just to really test us.

I think both of these sound fantastic.

Both sound great! Good job dude. If you ever put your profiles out there please let us know, sounds like they'd be fun to riff on! Cheers
