If we're looking at it this way isn't here a crucial step missing when we have guys do 70s and 80s stuff? What I mean...HGainiac":1mc3nifd said:degenaro":1mc3nifd said:I get what you're saying, however this so isn't about who coulda been a contender, you don't need to be a player to appreciate something. Or in my case not appreciate it. All I'm trying to say...it's fine and good that Kage finds hope in kids digging 70s and 80s stuff. For me hope comes in the form of kids like Royser just doing scary stuff that isn't the typical thing.HGainiac":1mc3nifd said:Bro, I dont wanna bust your bubble an be a tool an point out the obvious about myself, but chops over context IS the FKN BACKBONE around here!! How many other of us, (not you, Ed, you play,) if better equipped for music or life, wouldnt have those missing elements covered an have an album/tour out??!?? your talking to, me, for example, who ARE one of those 'almosts'....![]()

got a site full of guys who for various reasons may play like all get out but may be missing some elements, many of them the feel we were talking about, cause often the athletics is easier than the feel...

Oh, no doubt! but I wonder how many of them live up to a pedigree like that and actually dont crash an burn by adulthood and TAKE It someplace? I'm sure theres no pie chart on it yet, (or is there?) but theres ALWAYS been that immediate Burst that kids are capable of, that freaky talent that allows them the ability to hit it at a young age. I wondered to myself as a kid that I had fast hands and could sing pretty well but some guys just 'looked' and sounded like their hands 'belonged' on a guitar a while before I started to 'get it'. Some folks Never get it. We all develop differntly, but my hopes hang with someone willilng to do the research at a young age and look behind them and pull from as many sources as they can Right away as opposte to 'shooting stars'...
I started screeching on cello, and then a coupe of Beatles tune on acoustic, never got into it until I got a crap les Paul copy and then I just wanted to rock the shit. Took me years before I even owned an acoustic, and it wasn't pretty. When i look at the progression of most guitarists that are Rock guys usually the thing that should start everything...like the ability to play a tune all the way through by yourself comes last. Lon after the young, dumb, full of cum excitement of getting to alternate pick root running lines a Paul Gilbert speed.
Go sit down with an acoustic and burn up and down the board and then hand it to a dude that knows 4 chords and can sing a bit...who gets pussy? Jus' sayin'
