Here's my King's X tale. I came late to the party. Maybe 5 years ago. I heard It's Love, on sirius, also heard Blag Flag somewhere and my interest was caught. I sort of remembered hearing some of their stuff in the 90's. I searched to see what album would be a good first. I came up with no choice, cause every fan says something different. I went with Faith, Hope, Love. My first few listen's I was pulled in, but slightly confused as to why I was. Some of the lyrics and styles made me feel goofy, but the musicianship was amazing. The tones, the timing, the phrasings. I knew these guys were tight. I had that cd for a year or so. Sometimes it would sit. Other times it would be in my car for a week. During one of those phases, something in my head clicked and I was done. I started buying everything King's X I could find from OOTSP forward. I even like watching their Sneak Preview stuff on youtube. I wanted to hear how they changed and grew. I started buying all of their solo stuff too. Everything I bought, I listened to on egg shells for the first spin or so. I always thought, hmmmm, maybe this isn't as good as the last. Then I decided that each release just has to work it's way into your skull, and it does. To me anyway, they are infectious. Now I've got cd's, flyers, an L5, a strat elite, randall modules, etc. I think, I can honestly say, they have the most interesting cataloge of any band I've ever been into. Their solo stuff included. Plus, it helps that from what everyone says, you will never meet 3 more nice and down to earth rock stars. Jerry's cd is dislodgingly honest and musical. I developed a huge respect for his ability after spinning that one for a while. To cut off my rambling, I'll just sum it up. They grow on you like a rock-n-roll mold. If you catch it, it hits deep. I guess some will never get into them, but hey, that's art.
