Sounds great! Like the sound better than some of the other vids you posted (watched a lot of them).

I had the joy of playing a Colossus some years ago. It was a year after I had bought my Diezel Hagen and if I had known about the Colossus at that time, I would have gone for it.

Awesome sounding amp, on all channels.

Thank you fine sir! Also thanks for checking out my other vids!

The Hagen is still an amp I want to get my hands on. Have always been curious about them. I sure love my Paul, it's a great amp.

Good playing and recording.

Is it just me or do most of the KSR amps, especially the Gemini/Colossus lead channels sound very Mesa Recto-like?????

I don't think it sounds anything like a recto.

When I played the Colossus, it did sound a bit Mesa-like to me in the sense that it was definitely not a British / Marshall-inspired high-gain voicing but more American. It ha dnone of the Recto issues though i.e. thick saturated distortion but without overwhelming bass, tight low-end without needing a tubescreamer in front and no fizzy high-end. At the same time, it had some "grease" which made playing feel good, i.e. not too stiff.

Thank you sir!

You know, I haven't played a Recto in so long I kinda forgot how they sound.

I can't speak for other KSR ams, but my Ares definitely has a Mesa flavor to it. But more like a Mark Series, although the circuit definitely shares some common ground with an SLO, from what I can tell. So it's no surprise it has some similarities to a Recto, since a Recto is also based on an SLO in many ways—albeit with a bunch of changes and additions. But the Rectos are notorious for being hard to dial in. The Ares is the opposite. No matter where you put the dials, it sounds good. And I think the lead channel is pretty much the same across the board with most of the KSR amps. So it should be the same with the Gemini, Orthos, etc.

I've owned a Colossus and a Mark IV/Roadster at the same time. They have way more in common with a Mark than a Recto, but they do have a deepness to their tone like a Recto. That's pretty much the similarity there though. Even in Super Thick mode the Colossus is still much tighter than the Recto. Its gain structure is also much more musical and less aggressive/abrasive.
