Well, the LA Amp Show was this weekend up in Van Nuys and I got to debut the new Bottle Rocket combo. With my decreased expectations for attendance based on last year, I would say it was a fun event. Got to hang the whole weekend with my buds Curt and Mat from Chubtone Guitars who I shared the room with and that made everything worthwhile in the end. Many laughs were had...
Lots of players came by to try the Chubtone guitars through my amps and we got great feedback from everyone who came to play. Mostly older guys, of course, but the players ranged from this one guy who was ripping everything from Yngwie to improvisational jazz (just insane player) to guys with drop-tuned LTDs playing modern metal, to a guy who played a lap steel through my combo (
) - plenty of '80s guys as well, of course.
Tracy Guns from LA Guns dropped by as Chubtone is building him a guitar. Very nice guy and it was cool to hear him crank up the Bottle Rocket...
The reduced rig(s) I brought to the show this year still sounded great and saved my back for sure. In fact, I gave a bellhop a $5 tip to cart everything but the 4x12 in and out of the room from my car like luggage!
Thanks to anyone who supported the show. Here are some pics of my setup in the room:
