WANTED TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO AND WHICH WOULD HAVE MORE GAIN ETC.

IIRC, the Elite has a touch more gain, but both have so much, you'll rarely dime the gain knob, unless your going for overkill..... (not the band ;) )

They are both the same preamp design but the elite had relay pots on the back of the preamp.
You can't go wrong with either of them:-)

Just remember me :)

I never run mine past 2o'clock gainwise, they are total gain monsters. The clean channel is not bad either
And a midrange control that will rip your face off

Yeah.... DCP-1 is a badass preamp that has more than enough gain for me. Nice built in boost too and the clean is very usable. I never use an OD pedal with this one.

And no offense to the noob here that posted he had an Elite for sale..... It's a great somewhat rare preamp, but in no way is it worth $2300.00. Just my opinion.

who had posted an elite for sale when? in the past? couldn't find it current.

'eh
people have paid more for them. I saw one go for 2700.00 on evilbay awhile back.
There's one on there now for 1700.00. A few others at 2300-2500. I got a killer deal from Loudguitar on mine, I'd never sell it, I love it
They were 800.00 brand new   Most people dont even know who Todd was :aww: Kinda sad really, the guy did some amazing work.
They are rare and very cool preamps with amazing tone. Their worth what whoever is looking at them is willing to pay for a piece of metal history ;)

Kinda neat that $1700 one is the guitarist from Defiance's langner. He also had a cool JCM 800 modded Langner (not beef mod) that he said Todd modified for him to bipass the preamp section (input on back) turning it into a power amp with the presence knob only working on the front and also had a voicing knob on the front as well. ,...but i lost the bid

I paid $500 shipped from Japan for mine ;) should've kept it....

My understanding of the Langner pwr amps is that they were based on Marshall output sections, so I bet that was a great match. The DCP1 has no presence control, I kinda wish it did, but I dont usually use a lot of presence so it hasent really been a big deal. The treble and mid tone controls are unusually potent. A 1 position bump is a big difference.
A lot of guys could plug into that preamp and never look for their tone again. Its a great piece

hmmmm. gut shots....A guy that has the couple on e-bay was saying the creator is a one channel preamp and the dcp-1 was the 2? Mike, do you do the mods on jcm 800's to bypass the preamp section adding an additional output converting it essentially to a power amp? Just curious. Was kinda neat when I was talking to the Defiance guy on e-bay as Todd specifically modded his 800 to do this to work best with his dcp-1. His on e-bay is an early prototype version like the guys from Forbidden have.

I don't see how a gut shot will help you. Ok, if you don't believe me, then maybe this will finally convince you....page from Langner's catalog...... :)

Any tech can install a passive insert loop at the wiper of the treble pot. Then you can plug into a preamp, then out from the preamp in the return passive loop cutting the amp's preamp out and just using the power amp section with the amp's master and presence control

Cheers,
Mike
