LANGNER DCP-1 CREATOR VS. ELITE ????

So maybe I have an Elite with no hyper control???? The controls on the rear are unlabeled and I'm not sure I ever messed with them. Never mind... I miss read your post Mike....your saying the stock DCP-1 just doesn't have the center hyper pot.

hmmmm. gut shots....A guy that has the couple on e-bay was saying the creator is a one channel preamp and the dcp-1 was the 2?

I don't see how a gut shot will help you. Ok, if you don't believe me, then maybe this will finally convince you....page from Langner's catalog......

Mike, do you do the mods on jcm 800's to bypass the preamp section adding an additional output converting it essentially to a power amp? Just curious. Was kinda neat when I was talking to the Defiance guy on e-bay as Todd specifically modded his 800 to do this to work best with his dcp-1. His on e-bay is an early prototype version like the guys from Forbidden have.

Any tech can install a passive insert loop at the wiper of the treble pot. Then you can plug into a preamp, then out from the preamp in the return passive loop cutting the amp's preamp out and just using the power amp section with the amp's master and presence control

Thx Mike. LOL wasn't that I didn't believe you, I was just reiterating what they guy had mentioned to me on e-bay that hhas the couple for sale. If anything, I am the most confused person out there on these, the reviews just seem so good and tempting.... I am having the ultra + now done to my ADA 3TM, not sure how they would compare...

I haven't seen a 3rd knob on the back unless that was an additional mod done to the Elite model Mike?

The "Original" DCP-1 the same guy has on e-bay does not have any controls on the back:

If you read my post above that the elite DCP-1, stock version is minus the hyper control.

If you have pots on the back, it is an elite. No pots = creator.


The pic above with the hyper control was a custom addition that Todd Langner did for Dave Linsk of Overkill. That is his personal DCP-1 pictured. He also has another DCP-1 Elite that is stock.

This one is an Elite. This seller btw, has high hopes in the price department. All of his auctions are like this.

You won't see the Hyper control because that was a total custom one off from Todd for Dave Linsk....too bad because it really takes the performance of the DCP-1 to another level.

THX 4 clearing up the smoke! What did that hyper control do? Everyone is they wouldn't even dial it past10 or 3 so curious about hyper.

What ever happened to Todd Langner? I haven't heard anything about him in a long time. I use to own a DCP-1 and had a Soho Preamp modded by him. He modded alot of the ADA MP-1's too, when it come's to preamp's. I believe he worked for ADA way back, and helped design the MP-1.

He's in the Film Industry now. Completely out of MI. Yes, he did work with ADA.

Great stuff, that guy has a killer collection, including the head. I've never seen an ATC head before, I bet its killer
