Dave told me that he sent his off to Todd to do that hyper mod.
Next time I speak with him I'll bring this up and see there is more info
I first discovered Langner products while working for a gear rental/storage place in Northern NJ.
The band Helmet was a client and I saw my first DCP-1 preamp there in 1994.
I would later purchase several DCP-1 preamps and turn my close friends on to them.
I think I had 5 of them pass through my hands at one time. I have a picture someplace
of many DCP-1 units stacked on top of each other - I had posted that picture to another forum
back in the day (Huge racks, I think.)
I know I previously sold Dave a Langner (non Elite) DCP-1. Very early version.
In fact, the DCP-1 chassis' metal box was actually folded by Todd's father, as per Todd.
MGSchindel ended up getting one of the many DCP-1's I had obtained.
One day he noticed some sort of semi-disconnected circuit inside it.
He 'connected it' and addt'l gain came on like a 'Firehose.'
Schindel would later call it the 'Genesis' Mod. (aka Hyper mod/Vicious Rumors Mod.)
I brought 3 DCP-1's to Todd during a trip to NAMM circa 1999-2002.
For 2 of the DCP-1 units, I asked Todd to install every possible DCP-1-related mod he had offered.
That resulted in 3 knobs on the back - ELITE CLEAN/HYPER DIST/ELITE DIST
Also, I had requested that the footswitch jacks (where needed) be converted
to tip-ring-sleeve style to accommodate additional options and to avoid drilling
more holes in the back panel.
For the 3rd DCP-1, I asked Todd to just make sure it was up to his OEM specs
and to correct anything that looked odd, etc.
