Hi, I'm not a usual gear demonstrator but I made those tracks to make soundclips available of the amp.
Someone had to do them so...

Lapointe Starsonic, 100% solid state, original design from Montréal based on tube amp circuitry.

there is a power amp control designed to add tube power section saturation/coloration..

the amp tone respond to the cab impedence load..

I recorded those with the power level "off", since it's really loud.. The master volume is usually a 4-5 ish excepted when mentionned.

There is a TS9 before the amp to boost the signal a little.

The cab is a 2x12 with celestion lynchbacks miced with dual sm57. Not eq where used. I added a bit of room and plate reverb..

i
Sounds fuckin rad
it is, it is really a great tone and it has a great feel, like a real tube amp compression and saturation..

the volume knob is really powerful, the core tone is really shaped by that control.. the depth and presence is in the power section, properly implemented..

it can be stupid loud, plexi level loud.

Sounds great in the clips. It's got to be a Class D power section to fit in that small of a package right?

I cant tell from the clips though. I think the best course of action is to send me one. I will close mic it and put it through the paces and take it to an amp fest.

It is the right thing to do

this thing need to be on ampfests and grow outside the local scene around here..

It's a tubeless bulletproof metal amp designed to be played stupid loud through 4x12.

Sounds great!:2thumbsup: It's sounds nice and open with some headroom.........

Does it move alot of air and punch like an old Randall RG100ES or does it run out of ass as the volume goes up?

I remember the Canadian amp builder Vanous when they built a S/S plexi Evolution amp!

i didnt managed to make it even struggle a little..

at home, it was "will the neighbour call the cops" loud with the power level at maybe 2-2 1/2.. as loud and cleaner than my 100w tube amp.

I'd like to hear more on this amp... maybe an in the room I phone clip through a 4x12.

The distortion character is quite Marshally! Thanks for the clips!:2thumbsup:

i can do that later

crunch and gritty sounds marshall-y.
higain is darker and reminds me of a recto

crunch and gritty really benefits from the power amp saturation to take sone edge off, higain i prefer more clean power section with higher treble

I think it is, but not a cheapo one.. audiophile grade. there is a real output transformer stuffed in there.
The thing that I've found with the Class D power amps that I've tried is that they sound great at low volumes but as you crank them up, the highs get weird. I'm not saying this does that though because I know there are some audiophile guys that go nuts over some of the new high end Class D stuff.

SInce my cell audio capture is terrible (always-on noise cancellation) i recorded the amp on the higain channel with a TS9 into a 4x12 with a condenser mic at about 6'.. It's sound pretty much like that if you where to ear in mono while standing in front of the amp..

That amp for some reason is really great for palm muting.. I did play some pentatonic things with it but kept the rythm parts, I think they highlight the amp tone more..
