Larry DINO JM802 Video

What do you hear different between this clip and a current Dino?

Although @Alex_S explained it very well, I would also add that this early dino 802 is "softer" and perhaps more "sag" than even my 822 - I would guess preamp filtering, as Eddy and Larry have mentioned.

The differences would be more pronounced with a 939 or (I assume) a 962, I would also say.

What Alex says about the British channel is also very, very true. Larry's British channel is incredibly versatile, just by itself - when added to the Cali clean, scream, etc, the versatility on tap is insane.

It's only up to you to decide that.
And I wish luck and power to you, regardless of your decision.
I’m confused. A Larry is the Dumble of modern high gain amps? Any amp that costs as much as either of them are not worthy of my playing. My skill level could never justify an amp that is priced that high. I’m not bashing the amp in the clip. It sounds great. I played my old Makoplex on Saturday and if they were the same price ( based on the clip of the Larry) I would chose the Mako. It’s just my opinion.

Is this the question? If so, why would I know the answer?
And "Good for you" in my dictionary means "Good for you".
If telling you "Good for you" hurt your feelings, I could delete it for you.
Please do. I need to leave my safe space so o can go to work. Seems the only feelings being hurt here are yours. Enjoy your amp and I’ll enjoy mine. Good day.

Good for me what? You Larry fanboys get butthurt easily huh?
What are you talking about man? You have been nothing but defensive with some kind of agenda throughout this whole thread…
Are you alright, brother?
I said good for you because you found an amp that you like and feel completely content with. That’s awesome!
Nothing more, nothing less… Hope you are having a great day👍

Hell yeah! I'm butthurt because I envy you much, especially because of the gear you have and your idiotic attitude! I wanna be just like you! I hate the gear I have and want yours! 😂 😂 😂
But until I can't, I'll just place you on the ignore list, so I won't get so upset for not being you.

I think, at the end of the day it’s more about “what do I enjoy doing, and how can I get MORE enjoyment out of it?”
For instance, if you play golf maybe one day you want to challenge yourself to an open type course(St Andrews, Shinnecock) and see how you measure up. Cars? Maybe one day it’s your dream to own a Porsche or maybe a classic US muscle car, or in my case a soon to be bought C6-7 Corvette. Playing out in bars, festivals, casinos etc I could have cared less what I played through for the first 20 years of gigs. But the final 10 years I caught the gear chase bug. So now I get an absolute rush out of turning my amps up and letting it rip…puts a huge smile on my face. It’s for my enjoyment; as I’m a home player now. I’ve become a high gain tone snob in some ways, I know what tones I like and if I need to spend more to get it, I will. Sure, I’d have been fine playing my mini rack until this very day but I chose to chase down some cool gear, and it’s been a blast. If you are just as happy with your Mako as you think you would be with a Larry, good on you.
But owning gear has nothing to do with how accomplished a player you are….it just shows how much you like and enjoy gear, no matter your skill level.

The older I get, the more I feel this way too, RacerX!
I sold a very nice mint condition loaded Steavens Poundcake 100w and one of my very rare mint condition Bogner Ecstasy 100B’s, to purchase my new Larry Dino.
Did it cost me a lot? yes…
Do I regret it? Absolutely not!👍😂

An old guy I used to work with once told me, “live it up, it’s later than you think”!
I’m not completely extravagant, but if there’s something I want, especially an amplifier, I just buy it, and the Larry Dino has been the best purchase for me over the last 25 years!
