Last time you plugged STRAIGHT IN?

Lots of talk lately about shedding gear that is clogging up signal paths, and I'm one of them.

All my pedals color my tone. Every single one, to one degree or another.
The feel, the attack and the response of straight in had obviously been lost on me.
Guitar > 6505 = WOW!
The only pedal that I couldn't hear interfering is a Decimator in the loop with an 11:00 setting, so that's where it stays. (I did feel a small affect when it was in front of the amp)

Fuck the front end / operating noise. (I can deal)
Screw boosts. (Getting used to it)
Forget the tone sucking line of connector/jumper cables. (Always hated the clutter)

I can't sacrifice that natural straight up feel anymore.

So, have you disconnected your life support system (AKA a pedalboard/rack) lately?

that's how I use my Vox tube amps (or, with only a tuner, compressor and AB pedal to switch between EF86 and Top Boost inputs).

I've been digging the tones from my new Engl halfstack that I've yet to even try any effects with it, no less add any effects like I had planned (neither in front or in the loop).

not ready to give up my G-System in my TriAxis rig though...

I used to have to run boosts in front of my 3ch dual recto in the past but sold that off to buy a 2ch triple recto.
I've been plugging straight in ever since I got it and have since sold off my pedalboard and the majority of my pedals.

Just plugging straight in with a guitar with high output pickups just kills, brings a smile to my face everytime. :D
BTW since I saw your profile pic, thought I'd mention that the new Neuraxis album kills :rock:

Just yesterday. :yes: I do it often so I don't lose sight of what a great tone sounds and feels like. Usually I play with one pedal in front and one in the loop so it's hard to tell a difference from a straight path, and the Mark's loop sounds really good so I'm not really sacrificing much. I've been known to dull my signal with a bunch of stomps occasionally, though. :D

Everyday. Hackin' around is typically: guitar -> cord -> amp.

However, when playing live:
- I use all Evidence Audio cable (i.e., guitar cable, pedalboard wiring, pedalboard-to-amp/FX loop cable runs, etc.);
- I have a great quality, transparent boost at the front of my pedalboard chain;
- All of my pedals are real true bypass,
- All of my heads have quality, buffered FX loops;
- I run an Egnater Loop Gadget in my loop, which is buffered on the send and return legs, with adjustable send and return levels for matching the instrument level pedals with some amps' line level FX loops.

I find, with this set-up, the little tone and feel I lose out of the amp is more than compensated for by the flexibility having a few tools at the feet can provide. Lest we forget that, your guitar signal is only as good as the weakest component in the signal path.

I still love going straight in though! :thumbsup:

I have one practice and one performance every week where I do that. Just a clip on tuner.
Love it, love my amp. It's been 5 months so I can say the honeymoon is over but I am still digging my tone. When I plug in and hit that first chord, I still get a stupid grin on my face. :rock:

Pretty well all the time when practicing. Even when I just wanna hit up an hour for a quick rip - straight in, raw, loud and as is.

To me? The amps I have are most impressive naked... That's why I still love 'em so much :yes:

I've been straight for years :lol: :LOL:

I love the feel and sound of just a guitar,cable and an amp.

only pedal i really use is a od808 as a boost and i use that most of the time, but theres still days when i plug in without it.

i have a pedal board but the only time i ever use it is when im playing live and that isnt very often these days.

I usually have a delay and slight detune going, that's just the way it is. However, since I got my CCV I just plug straight in...usually to me, playing any of my amps dry is odd, but for the CCV it will be the opposite..for the time being anyway. When and if I figure this MIDI crap out and start using the CCV in my various bands then I'm sure the sauce will get added out of necessity.

Earlier this evening. With the Headbone VT I'm looking at running the Quick Rod for the dirty and the Hughes & Kettner Trilogy Clean channel with Sparkle on for cleans and effects in the Trilogy Smart Loop.

Oh yeah, and nothing against you guys who require effects and things like that for whatever your band gigging situation is. It's kind of hard to get around that.

I about never use any effects or anything other than ...
guitar > amp > cab
Just nothing else needed to get what I want.

Plugged straight in today-- to the Cameron Atomica. Fun stuff! I prefer my whole rig, but it's just a means to make available different flavors, but even when using the big rig, I often use just the straight in core tone. :thumbsup:

Most of the time, when I practice electric guitar, I play unplugged.

I plug straight in all the time but when I gig, I've got a few pedals and a tuner. I can't really notice much of a difference. I did put a delay in my loop for the first time tonight and it definitely sucks some tone...

I can't remember, not very long ago. As it is, I only extras I have in the signal chain currently is a volume pedal and Nova Delay.

I almost always plug straight in when I play bass.
