Last time you plugged STRAIGHT IN?

Always when I practice (Ok, just noodling really) Pretty much straight in most of the time. Guitar-tuner-wah-amp is usually my setup.

I am plugged strait in right now as I post this....

The last time I plugged straight in was about 3 hours ago. The accomplises were a 71 Marshall 100 watt SL, two 4x12 cabs loaded with H75-PVC speakers and a Les Paul. I like the volume knob around 9.

No I didn't wear ear plugs. ;)

I plug in direct most of the time when I am at home. Different heads, different cabs and sometimes a Barber Tone Press or a RC Booster just for fun. I like to experiment with the compressor and clean boost, yet I always like the direct experience...loud through a 4X12

That said, I agree with Zach and also enjoy the larger rig with all its integrated elements. I am such a sucker for midi switchable channels, effects, etc. Just wish the EB jr volume pedal wouldn't suck tone, because I use that live and for rehearsals...

How are you guys getting around the volume pedal tone suck??

i use a pedal tuner --> MXR Flanger --> MXR Phase 90 --> Amp --> Delay --> EQ --> Boost --> Amp Return

probably wont give up my pedalboard until i'm playing big arena stages where i'd be better suited racking my gear... (the little amt of gear I have)

until then looks like i'm stickin with the pedalboard :gethim:

:rawk: !!!

Probably straight in 95% of the time

Cali & Friedmans have enough gain on tap to not need goosing :D

Straight in every practice. And sometimes a wah. Hagen needs no help!

I've got you all beat. I don't even use cables. It requires some contortioning while I play but man, the TONE ! I plug my guitar direct to the amp with this :

The only thing I have in front is my tuner and then I have an MXR 10 band in the loop and that's it.

I'm thinking of getting rid of my G-Major 2, maybe getting a good quality delay pedal, and call it day!

Reading this thread I get the feeling many people do not understand what "plugged straight in" means ....
Guitar>Amp>Cab
If you add anything other than these three elements or are using the loop at all that is not "plugging straight in".... That is something else.

whenever I plug in. Does going into a amp selector switch count?

Yes ;)
All of them put a extra/more load on the signal...

Yeah, my original post was about guitar>cable>amp.
I see guys saying they plug straight in and only have a compressor, switcher, volume or wah in front. That's not what I was getting at.
Even my best TB pedals take something away from the feel/touch when in front. I'm thinking its the extra cabling...
So I'm only looking for amps now that can perform without gadjets in front of it. I'm waiting to close a deal on a VHT UL as a result, and ditching one of my "boost needed" amps. I anticipate great results from the VHT in that regard.
