I would be interested in grabbing this if it is legit but the logo looks weird to me.

What do you guys think?

I need to see more but I have never seen a headstock inlay that fucked up on a CS gibby.

If you're interested in it you might want to email Gibson.

My buddy had one with a natural top. I didn't like it because of the headstock graphics which are identical to this one. Not saying this particular one is legit but my buddy got his from the local Gibson dealer in 1997.

do you have a picture of the back of the headstock that has the serial number?

This one looks a bit fishy to me

This things are legit. ugly as fuck but it is Gibson.

Looks real. The outline you see around the headstock logo and wreath is clear coat separation from the inlays. A common Gibson thing. Ask over on Mylespaul. There's some great info from those cats.

I'd still need to see the back of the headstock with the s/n. For $2000-2500 you can find a better CS Les Paul...used R7 + R8's (I personally bought a R7 gold top for $2k and 3PU LP Custom BB for $2500)

The headstock looks funky but it could be poor camera angle. The fretboad looks funky too...either is crazy dry, looks more like baked maple or than rosewood but could be camera flash.

FWIW...Elegant LP's are some of the most fakes around.

it's legit.. but weird it doesn't look like an ebony fretboard. my elegant has an ebony fretboard, but also does not have that cheesy looking headstock... mine has a normal CS headstock, in a Firemist finish. one of my favorite guitars i own.

FWIW in 2001 my elegant was $3700 new... and is much more than a fancier standard. only LP i have played that is better is my R9, but the harmonics on my elegant are insane. i wouldn't go for that headstock though... just looks cheesy IMO.

not that great a deal imo. just a fancier standard.

Pawn Shop :D I am the master of getting the deals that I want because I am willing to walk away if they turn down my offer. I do it at GC all of the time and end up getting it most of the time for what I originally offered. I will just stop in every couple of weeks to see if it's still there and make the same offer. Business owners might hold out for awhile but, eventually, they will realize that money sitting in inventory doesn't make them a damn thing.

glad yours is, mine was a warped p.o.s. from musicians friend...and although very pretty, my plain jane raw power at the time was playing as your describing your elegant.

I got mine from musicians friend also haha! Man Gibson quality control is so questionable. Really is hit or miss... what year was yours out of curiosity? Even my luthier gushes over this guitar every time he plays it.
