Lets talk about charvel GG model the caramelized body...

Anybody own one and basically how does it play? Especially the bolted on heel does it hinder the reach for inner access?

And does the caramelized body impact on the tone of non treated wood? In any good or bad way?

I have the ash version and am very pleased with it, it's a really well thought out guitar.

My only two complaints are that the body finish scratches pretty easily (lots of pick marks) and I always forget to lube the bone nut (although once I do, tuning is extremely stable). The neck joint is great, very comfy.

The ash is definitely scooped sounding compared to my other guitars...I'm still debating swapping pickups to something a little more mid heavy (plus I love zebras in everything) but I really don't need to, it sounds fantastic as is with lots of variations.

Played a gig last month and they stage had pretty cool motorized lights...at one point the lights dimmed and the damned glow in the dark fret markers lit up like a xmas tree, I was so shocked I burst out laughing. They definitely work,lol.

Is that Ash bodied guitar a pretty loud resonant guitar ? I am asking because I had an Ash bodied Kramer Pacer Custom 1 and a Baretta and they were both awesome metal axes,but the Pacer was just so much louder,I could unplug the Baretta and then plug in the Pacer custom and it was twice as loud at the same amp volume,that Ash body was was kickass !

I would guess because it gets in the way of the pick. Thats how I feel. Useless pickup.

Well, I really dig those in between sounds...that being said, all the pickups are direct mounted into the wood so there's no adjustment. The middle single does seem to sit a bit higher than my other guitars but I can live with it.

It's nice and resonant but I can't say it's "more resonant"...I gravitate towards lighter, resonant guitars and this is equal to others I've had. Overall build quality is excellent, on par with Suhr.

I wish I could easily buy one with the exact same features but a little different aesthetics...craving a reliced oly white version for some reason, lol.

Yeah... haha i finally got my 30th jackson soloist in red and you just spelled out what i encounter... i adjusted a tad lower on the middle SC and it sounds very weak and almost very clean sound... i have no idea what be the minimum height of the middle pickup for a SSH guitars ?

Thus i heard guthrie govans HSH charvel and i was blown away as its got many different tone !

To me, the middle sc is only useful for the splits...I hate it by itself. The GG wiring is really nice in this way as the middle position is the neck and bridge split, very tele-ish.

My feelings as well. My main axe for 20 years is a Hamer USA Centaura, I ended up just pulling the middle pup as it was so annoying. Lol.

Very nice guitar, beautiful figured neck that is very comfortable to play. Good fretwork. Nice access to the upper frets. Horrible nutwork. Tremolo was a pain in the rear with the round inserts to lock in a pinch, especially if you broke a string while playing live and had to change it quickly. I would have been fine with the non-fine tuner floyd on there instead. Did not like the Sperzel tuners at all compared to the locking Klusons or Grovers that I have on my other guitars. I like the pickups and the switching as well as the luminescent dots and numbers on the knobs for playing on a dark stage.

The body is ultra soft. You look at it the wrong way and it will dent. That being said, the guitar sounded very nice. Keeping it in tune with some aggressive whammy was a chore, even with plenty of nut sauce.
