It must have been biased at something like 85% for the amp to simulate modulation effects on its own. I've had a couple amps at a little over 70% and never had one sound like that.

Did your amp sound like that when you bought it; simulating the modulation effects with some headroom and breakup and all?

Its really just pick work and pitch/phase effect from that I figure and the reverb with the light trem.


I may be wrong but usually when an amp is biased hotter the trem is weaker or less in your face. Not sure about the science behind it but that is what I've heard and the trem is a bit more subtle than the cooler biased ones I've played too.


I'm not sure what to call but I notice it with higher gain sometimes too into my Lynx 50 or with my AC15 with the RAT and goosed with ODs but more subtle and it's sort of like a phase/pitch induced effect from picking technique I figure. I may be wrong but yeah I hear it too and well as said no effects being used other than the reverb and trem and it's just the amp

You also have the springs in the guitar and it was set up by me to be a floating trem on a vintage spec guitar so that may provide more of an effect as well aside from the picking technique contributing as well

I've heard you have to watch out for flyback voltages with having your trem set up as semi-floating. It's something about how the tubes react to the guitar springs being looser. From what's been said you can get away with regular cables, but it's best to use mono directional cables if you're gonna be running that setup all the time.

No, no,no,no,no....
You cannot use regular cables.
They have to be double jacketed and directional like you said. But anything under 15 feet and you risk crossing the streams.... And we all know what happens when you cross the streams..

But I'm trying to catch up with this thread because it is so fascinating and I spent the last 4 days at my cabin in the middle of nowhere. I just wanted to say that I don't think anyone (most) has a problem with the FOS we have here and you are right that the kid didn't break any rules.
