Dozens and dozens of 70's Les Pauls and Strats back in the 90's...made alot of cash on those selling them at a 75%-100% mark up (ebay messed that up for me). Bought/sold quite a few 50's Les Paul Jrs and Specials during that era as well at a smaller margin (30%-50% on most of them).

Made a bundle selling a bunch of original Way Huge pedals that I bought and used when I was a dealer. Paid around $100 for most of them...sold a Red Llama for $550, a Blue Hippo for $1100, and an Aquapuss for $1000. The rest went for $350-$450 (Green Rhino, Purple Platypuss, Swollen Pickle).

A dead mint Silvertone Twin Twelve comes to mind as well...paid $35, sold for $550.

Too much other stuff to list...I made a partial living doing this from '90-'99.

Vox AC15TBX, bought it used, used it for a few years, than sold it when the Chinese made AC15CC's were out. Made some money on that.

Fender DRRI, bought it used, sold it for what I paid for it.
Vox AC30CC1, bought new on close out, sold for what I paid pretty much.
Marshall 6101LE, bought used, sold for what I paid
Gibson Tony Iommi SG, bought on special at MF. Way too neck heavy for me, even though it played great. Sold for a slight profit.
Sovtek Mig 60. Again bought used. Due to a timely thread by someone else on HC, sold for a small profit. This clued me in to how much forums can affect market value.

Most stuff I have lost money on. If I made that list it would be huge.

I bought my Suhr Guthrie 2 years ago for $3500 new and traded it last week for a mint used PRS MEII Quatro worth ~ $3800 currently on the used market...

Digitech WH-1 Whammy -- bought for $50 and sold on eBay for $750.

My first Anderson, bought for $2000 sold for $2200.

I've had quite a few.

Klon Centaur-bought for $200 sold for nearly $800
VH4 Package (amp, columbus, case)-bought for $2500 sold for $2900
Mesa Mark V-bought for $1000 sold for $1800 (and then another for $1500)
Plus quite a few more....

I have a red paper clip type of deal going on at the moment too. I won a baritone danelectro from a work raffle (so got it for free) and have been trading it and moving up on value. I've gotten to a Jimmy Page Les Paul so far

Back in 90 91 I found this chassis 50 watt marshall non master and the dude SAID it was a bogner modded marshall. Had some switches on it ?? I dont know what they did, I put it in a laney head box. I wrote bogner and asked for a logo, they sent me one. I listed it on the recycler and some dude bought it for 800. I got it for $250.

did you also explain to them what they are reading using crayons and blocks?

Wait... hold on... after reading some more of these, I... uhm... forgot one deal I made.

I bought a mint and flamey 1958 Gibson Les Paul burst from this little old lady two years ago. It had been sitting in a closet in the case since her husband died unexpectedly two weeks after he bought it. I paid her $200 and she was thrilled! I then sold it to Keifer Sutherland one week later for $650,000. Definitely my best deal... don't know how I forgot that one...

Oh yeah, I also bought a bunch of cheap toy at garage sales, painted them up with Zakk Wylde graphics, pretended to be Zakk's friend and came up with a scam to sell Epiphone guitars really cheap if they bought one of the toys. I made thousands.

seriously, i wouldn't paypal anything to anyone via a deal on craigslist.

i''ve done a bunch of craigslist deals locally/face to face. that's the only way i'll deal.

Oh, where to begin?? When the Peavey Wolfgangs first came out in '97, I found a local music store that sold them for $900 for solid colors and $1000 for quilt tops. I bought and sold every wolfgang he got in for about 6 - 8 weeks (12 guitars?). In total I made about $4500 in profit. That endeavor launched my "2nd job" and I went on a tear buying and selling guitars and drums for about 6 years. I couldn't tell you how much I made during that period but I never lost money on anything. I always bought (and buy) stuff I like at a price that would allow me to make some cash if I decided to sell it. For example, I bought the EVH in my sig for $900 back in june and if I decide to sell it, I'll do ok on it ;)

I sold several vintage Les Pauls at a hefty profit that I bought right and sat on for years... I played them too of course. but now that the money is long gone I would rather have a couple of them back.

What's a profit? This biggest hit ever on a piece gear was an Elmwood M90.
