What was his book for reference? I'll look for it.

Very sad , This dude had such an impact on the evolution of rock music that he should be in the Hall Of Fame .

Wow. Crazy. I have Metallica on my twitter and never saw this on my feed. Only porn and insta-hoes. I really need to clean up my feed/followers ?‍♂️

RIP JZ

RIP to a legend. Metallica, Anthrax and others could have faded into obscurity if not for Johnny Z. Brian Slagel (Metal Blade records) is another guy that played a similar role on the west coast in getting such artists heard when no one else would listen.

Brian Slagel's book is great too.
Jonny Z's book is a tale of redemption. He was on hard times when he started his record spot(a tent at a flea market).
His stories of the first metal shows he put on are hilarious and everyone here will remember playing shows like he tells in these stories.
And the way he talks about Scott Ian when they first met is hilarious.
Its really great reading it again.

A very great guy. He has been on the journey since 1982. The Metallica legend.

Very sad. RIP Johnny Z.

WOW, super sorry to hear this. I used to go to his fleamarket store in the 80's. He and Old Bridge Metal Militia were local to me.)
Shit, I used to remember seeing Overkill and hanging out with Bobby Blitz and his wife after the show when I was like 16.

LOTS of metal in central NJ in the 80's!

I know Marsha passed a little while back.

Sad day for OG thrash. RIP and thanks Johnny!
